On March 29, Leicester City announced the sacking of Kirk after an internal investigation. "Coach Willie Kirk has been found to have breached the club's code of conduct, so serious that his position at the club must be reviewed," Leicester's homepage said.
The Guardian revealed that Kirk was suspended from his job earlier this month, after it emerged that he had an affair with a female player in the Leicester team. Since then, the "Foxes" have lost all of their Premier League games.
Coach Willie Kirk was accused of violating professional ethics.
Kirk joined Leicester as Director of Football in July 2022, moving to manage the women's team later that year. He helped the club stay in the top flight last season.
The Leicester Women's scandal comes just a month after the team's former coach, Jonathan Morgan, was also accused of similar behavior. Mr. Morgan was fired when Sheffield United Women discovered that he had a romantic relationship with a player during his time in charge of Leicester Women (2014-2021).
Mr. Morgan later admitted the incident to The Athletic. The mother said the female player was only 17 when she started her relationship with Coach Morgan. She accused this coach of taking advantage of her daughter's lack of knowledge.
Meanwhile, Mr. Morgan emphasized that the girl was 18 years old at the time of the intimacy. In the case of coach Kirk, Leicester still kept the identity of the female player involved in the incident confidential. However, the Telegraph revealed that this player is a regular starter in the first team.
