On the evening of March 21, at the Youth Cultural House (District 1) and Pham Ngoc Thach Street (District 1, from Le Duan to Nguyen Thi Minh Khai), the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union held the opening ceremony of the 5th City Youth Festival (Youth Fest) in 2025 with the theme "New generation - adaptation - connection and sharing."
The event is part of a series of activities to celebrate the founding day of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26) and towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The festival takes place from March 21-23 with a variety of exciting and meaningful activities attracting young people such as: The 6th Ho Chi Minh City Student Film Festival, Creative Technology Festival, cultural space "Green Hair - Ao Dai", space "Connecting the Future" and program "Identity, Integration to excel."
In addition, the festival also has exchange activities and art performances such as: Forum "Connecting young people - confidently starting a business," experiencing traditional musical instruments, dance group festival "Dance of Youth."
The program also responds to the Earth Hour 2025 Campaign, contributing to raising awareness of environmental protection.
Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Truong Minh Tuoc Nguyen said that the Festival is not only an annual cultural event but also reflects the effectiveness of youth movement activities in the city. This is also an opportunity to look back on the development, creativity and dedication of the young generation.
According to Mr. Truong Minh Tuoc Nguyen, in addition to activities for young people, the festival also offers many spaces to recreate historical imprints such as: "Keel Lamp Corner" recreating the lifestyle of the people of the South during the resistance war; "Singing for my people" - where passionate fighting songs resound; classes at Dinh Mountain - where loyal revolutionary soldiers are trained and "Historical film" showing typical documents about the country's history and youth movements.
In particular, this year’s festival also has the participation of youth delegations from Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, and Singapore, thereby contributing to strengthening friendship and opening up opportunities for international exchange and cooperation. Young people will have the opportunity to participate in conversations with international experts, ASEAN youth cultural exchanges, and art exchanges between countries.
Mr. Truong Minh Tuoc Nguyen hopes that the festival will contribute to building a generation of comprehensively developed youth, patriotic, with ethics, knowledge, social practice skills, creativity and application of science and technology. This is also one of the important activities to effectively implement the City's Youth Development Program in the period 2023-2030.
After the opening ceremony, 1,000 young people performed a folk dance and martial arts performance to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
With the message "The country is full of joy - the city shines with His name," this activity not only shows national pride but also affirms the pioneering and creative spirit of the city's young generation, confidently entering the new era.
The performance was divided into two parts: Vovinam martial arts music performed by more than 200 students from Ton That Tung Secondary School (Tan Phu District) and folk dance to the song “Nhung Trai Tim Viet Nam” (composed by musician Phuong Uyen) with the participation of 800 union members, students and volunteers. This was also the first time Vovinam martial arts music was included in the Youth Festival to honor the traditional martial art founded by the Vietnamese.
At the same time, the folk dance performance is widely popular and accessible, helping to spread the spirit of patriotism and solidarity among Ho Chi Minh City's youth./.
