10 universities and institutes with the largest number of recognized professors and associate professors in 2023

Chairman of the State Council of Professors Nguyen Kim Son has just signed a decision to recognize the qualifications for the title of professor and associate professor in 2023 for 630 teachers, including 58 professors and 572 associate professors.

Among the candidates recognized this year, Ho Chi Minh City National University has the highest number of qualified professors and associate professors with 2 professors and 36 associate professors.

Next is Hanoi National University with 7 professors and 27 associate professors. Hanoi University of Science and Technology has 5 professors and 29 associate professors, Thai Nguyen University has 2 professors and 27 associate professors.

Also in the top 10 are Can Tho University, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Hue University, Da Nang University, Military Technical Academy and Hanoi Medical University.

Comparing the number of professors and associate professors of the units in the top 10 shows that the number of these units accounts for a large proportion with 230/630 of the total number of professors and associate professors recognized nationwide in 2023. Of which, 201 are associate professors and 29 are professors.

The number of professors in the top 10 alone accounts for about 50% of the professors recognized this year.

The three youngest new associate professors in 2023 were all born in 1990 and are in the same field of Economics , including: Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Nham (majoring in Finance - Banking), Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics; Dr. Phan Thi Thu Hien (majoring in Accounting - Auditing), Foreign Trade University (Hanoi); Dr. Le Thanh Ha (majoring in Economics), National Economics University (Hanoi).

The three youngest new professors were all born in 1984, including Mr. Nguyen Dai Hai (Institute of Chemical Technology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), Mr. Doan Thai Son (Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), and Mr. Tran Xuan Bach (Hanoi Medical University).

Notably, among the new professors this year, Ms. Ta Thi Hoai An - senior researcher at the Institute of Mathematics (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) - born in 1972 - became the third female mathematics professor in Vietnam in nearly 70 years.

This year, 3 fields and interdisciplinary fields do not have candidates recognized as meeting the standards for the title of professor: Linguistics, History - Archaeology - Ethnology and Literature.
