10 years, more than 7,500 tourists conquer Son Doong cave

NDO - On December 31, Mr. Nguyen Chau A, General Director of Chua Me Dat One Member Limited Liability Company (Oxalis) said that over the past 10 years, 7,552 tourists have conquered Son Doong - the world's largest cave. Son Doong has contributed to putting Phong Nha-Ke Bang in Quang Binh province on the world tourism map, making Phong Nha an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists.


Accordingly, from 2014-2024, 7,552 people conquered Son Doong Cave, of which about 20 people conquered it from 2 to 8 times.

The number of visitors to Son Doong Cave is distributed around the world, with the top 5 countries including: Vietnam with 3,123 visitors, the US with 1,851 visitors, Australia with 461 visitors, the UK with 280 visitors, Canada with 224 visitors and many customers from other countries.

Total revenue from Son Doong exploration tour is more than 528 billion VND, contributing more than 167 billion VND to the State budget, through entrance fees and forest environmental services and related taxes.

The Son Doong Cave expedition tour has created 130 direct jobs for local people in the Phong Nha area, including porters, chefs, safety assistants, tour guides and many other jobs.

Previously, these people mainly lived on agriculture and illegal exploitation of forest resources. Now, with participation in Son Doong tours and similar services, people's lives have become more stable, many can take care of their children's university education and work at tourism companies in the area.

To continue serving, fully and promptly meeting the travel needs of visitors when participating in this attractive tour, the product operator has focused on investing in improving service quality and ensuring safety, bringing peace of mind, trust and satisfaction to visitors when experiencing, exploring and conquering Son Doong Cave.

According to Mr. Nguyen Chau A, each year only 1,000 tourists are allowed to explore Son Doong Cave and nearly 40,000 tourists participate in other cave exploration tours in Phong Nha-Ke Bang and neighboring areas.

This has helped Phong Nha-Ke Bang become the world's largest destination for cave exploration tourism. In addition, with nearly 1 million visitors annually, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has become the national park that attracts the most tourists in the country.

Son Doong has contributed to putting Phong Nha-Ke Bang on the world tourism map, turning Phong Nha from a poor village into a bustling tourist town as it is today, an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists.

According to the planning of Quang Binh province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Quang Binh is oriented to be the most attractive destination in Vietnam, the adventure tourism center of Asia. In particular, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park continues to develop its unique products such as cave exploration, nature exploration and biodiversity research.
