100 outstanding national blood donors offer incense and report to the Hung Kings

On June 4, the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation (VBD), the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, in coordination with the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, organized an incense offering program to honor the Hung Kings at the Hung Temple historical relic site.

A national delegation of outstanding voluntary blood donors offered incense at Kinh Thien Palace, Hung Temple Historical Relic Site.

Attending the program were Mr. Vu Thanh Luu - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society; leaders of the Office of the National Steering Committee for Donor Care, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the Provincial Red Cross Society and 100 outstanding Donor Care delegates nationwide.

At Kinh Thien Palace on Nghia Linh Mountain, the delegation of the HMTN offered incense and flowers to commemorate and express gratitude to the Hung Kings; and respectfully reported to the Hung Kings about the outstanding results in the voluntary blood donation movement of the whole country. Over the years, the HMTN has become a large humanitarian movement, spreading throughout the country, meeting the blood needs for emergency and patient treatment.

Since 2008, the Prime Minister established the National Steering Committee for Blood Donation. Up to now, the whole country has received nearly 20 million units of blood. The amount of blood collected each year is always higher than the previous year, from 500,000 units of blood (2008) to nearly 1.75 million units of blood (2024). Of which, over 98% of blood units are from blood donors, equivalent to over 1.7% of the blood donation population.

2025 is the 17th year that the program to honor outstanding blood donors nationwide has been organized on the occasion of International Blood Donor Day. The series of meaningful activities taking place over 3 days includes: Party and State leaders meeting outstanding blood donors; the journey "To the Ancestral Land", offering incense, reporting the achievements of the Hung Kings; the ceremony to report achievements, paying tribute to Uncle Ho at Ba Dinh Square; offering incense at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs and the Ceremony to honor outstanding blood donors nationwide.

Among the 100 honored examples, the oldest delegate was 60 years old, the youngest was 28 years old. The 100 delegates donated a total of 4,800 units of blood and platelets. There were 8 delegates donating 16-29 times; 53 delegates donating 30-49 times; 25 delegates donating 50-69 times; 9 delegates donating 70-99 times; especially 5 delegates from Hanoi donated blood and platelets more than 100 times.

Before the heroic spirits of the Hung Kings and our ancestors, the delegation of the HMTN vows to continue the tradition of our ancestors, continue to improve our working capacity, unite together to continue the humanitarian cause of donating blood to save lives; together promote the strength of the whole nation to build an increasingly strong and prosperous country.
