90 new students from five provinces of Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai and Kon Tum not only received scholarships, gifts, and laptops from sponsors, but also a lot of love and sharing from the community.

You are examples of overcoming difficulties that society highly values. There are many people who are in difficult and unfortunate situations, but you here are typical examples, the most beautiful flowers in the garden of good people and good deeds. You have touched the intellectual environment and deserve support and encouragement.

Mr. NGUYEN THAI HOC (acting Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee)

New student K' Tham was emotional when he went on stage to interact - Photo: DUYEN PHAN

Ka Tham from Loc Tan Commune, Bao Lam District (Lam Dong Province) became a freshman at the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) a year ago. But just a month after enrolling, the pain forced her to go to the hospital for a check-up. The diagnosis of cancer, Hodgkin's lymphoma stage 3B from Cho Ray Hospital left her stunned. The doctor ordered chemotherapy as soon as possible.

Thinking of every way, Ka Tham decided to ignore the illness and the doctor's advice, and continued to go to school. He also did not dare tell his mother, but stage 3 cancer was not a trivial cold. Lymphomas appeared all over his body, Ka Tham asked to reserve the results and go home to wait for a miracle in his life.

The family chose to treat him with traditional Chinese medicine. Fortunately, after three months of taking the medicine, the lymph nodes began to shrink, Ka Tham became more cheerful and the pain gradually disappeared. In September 2024, Ka Tham returned to school and is currently a freshman.

The story of Pham Thi Nho – a freshman in the Management Information Systems major at the University of Danang – makes everyone admire. Her mother left when Nho was only 3 years old, and father and daughter depended on each other in a dilapidated house. Her father was a veteran, in poor health, unable to do heavy work, but he always tried his best so that his daughter would not suffer the disadvantage of being a single father.

But misfortune did not spare her, her father fell ill and left her forever when Nho was in 6th grade. Her aunt Pham Thi Bong took her poor niece in and took care of her in village 4, Hoa Le commune, Krong Bong district (Dak Lak province) from then until now, even though her family was not well off. The family had little land, so she had to raise five children, now with an orphaned niece.

Mrs. Bong said Nho was very determined and eager to learn. Mrs. Bong’s children grew up, worked and moved out on their own, and Nho was like the youngest child in the family. Every day, the two of them made cakes to sell at the market. When she heard that she had received the Tiep Suc Den Truong scholarship, Nho said she was very happy because she felt more secure in her first steps as a student. “I will study hard to be worthy of what society and the community have given me,” Nho said.

Through the hardship, I realized that going to school was more important than the doctor's predictions in months and days. I would become a lawyer.
