Mazda CX-80 launched: Large 3-row SUV, likely to come to Vietnam

(GLO)- Mazda has officially introduced the CX-80 PHEV in the Southeast Asian market, expanding its product portfolio in the “Large Product” line. This three-row SUV shares the Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture platform with its two-row “senior” CX-60.

The CX-80 has dimensions of 4,995 x 1,890 x 1,705 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm. The interior is inspired by the CX-60 with a 12.3-inch digital display and a 12.3-inch central display that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto.

The biggest highlight is the second row of independent captain seats, with heating - cooling - electric reclining and a central armrest. The seats can be slid mechanically and folded quickly with a button for convenient access to the third row. Behind are two auxiliary seats that can be folded flat, increasing storage space. The version sold in Malaysia has tan Nappa leather seats, combined with a 12-speaker Bose system, 6 USB-C ports, wireless charging and 12V power source in both the middle compartment and the trunk.

The CX-80 uses a PHEV powertrain consisting of a 2.5L naturally aspirated gasoline engine (Skyactiv-G) combined with an electric motor, producing 328 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The car comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD. The 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides a pure electric range of 65 km according to NEDC standards, supporting 7.2 kW AC charging to fully charge the battery in 2 hours and 30 minutes. Mazda said the CX-80 can reach a maximum speed of 195 km/h, targeting customers who need a powerful, economical and environmentally friendly SUV.

The new SUV is built on the same longitudinal engine architecture as the CX-60, which optimizes weight balance and driving feel. It features double wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes and electric power steering.

In terms of safety, the CX-80 2.5G PHEV AWD High Plus is fully equipped with modern technology such as: adaptive cruise control with stop/restart, traffic jam assist, smart brake, distraction warning - driver monitoring, lane keeping and warning, front/rear collision warning, blind spot warning...

In Malaysia, the CX-80 is distributed only in the Skyactiv-G 2.5L PHEV AWD High Plus version, priced at RM 296,610 (about VND 1.85 billion). The car is warranted for 5 years or 100,000 km, with 5 years of free maintenance.
