The unemployment rate in the US will be 3.7% by the end of 2023, up 0.2 percentage points from last year. A wave of layoffs at technology corporations such as Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Amazon also caused more than 100,000 employees to lose their jobs.

However, according to forecasts, the US economy and job market will change positively in the next 10 years.

The Health Care and Social Assistance sector will see the largest growth, creating about 2.1 million jobs, or 45% of new jobs over the period. According to the BLS, this growth is due to the growing size of the elderly population (over 65) in the United States; as well as the prevalence of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

In addition, the Mathematics and Computer Science occupation group is predicted to grow 11 times faster than the average, creating nearly 475,000 additional jobs.

The most popular majors are Mathematics and Computer Science, Engineering, Business and Management, Natural Sciences, and Health.
