During the "Bringing Schools to Students" program organized by the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper at Bao Loc High School ( Lam Dong province) recently, Dr. Do Van Toan, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work - Da Lat University, stated that graduates in nuclear engineering currently have many job opportunities.

The Prime Minister has just issued Decision No. 245/QD-TTg dated February 5, 2025 on approving the Plan for development and application of atomic energy for the period up to 2030, with a vision to 2050; at the 9th session, the National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution of the National Assembly on specific mechanisms and policies for investment in the construction of the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project, showing the State's interest and investment in this field. This opens up many job opportunities and career development for nuclear engineers in the future.
According to Dr. Toan, when nuclear power plants are built and operated, the demand for highly qualified human resources in this industry is very large.
However, not all universities offer this major. Currently, only four universities nationwide provide it: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Science , Hanoi University of Science, and Da Lat University.
After graduation, students can work at the National Atomic Energy Institute; the Nuclear Research Institute; the Department of Science and Technology; the Department of Natural Resources and Environment; nuclear application centers; medical facilities, hospitals, irradiation centers, private irradiation facilities, or pursue further studies and training in countries with advanced nuclear technology to become experts in nuclear engineering.

Dr. Do Van Toan advises students on career opportunities in nuclear engineering.
One thing that surprised many students in Bao Loc City was that nuclear engineering graduates could work in hospitals. Specifically, they could work in oncology radiotherapy rooms, diagnostic imaging radiology departments, and nuclear medicine departments in medical facilities.
Jobs include: Design, operation, maintenance of medical equipment using radiation and nuclear technology such as X-ray machines, CT scanners, PET-CT scanners, radiation therapy machines. In addition, nuclear engineering graduates can work in research organizations, nuclear safety regulators or medical technology companies.
According to Dr. Toan, students in Lam Dong province who choose this field of study will have many advantages. Da Lat city has a university that offers training, the Da Lat Nuclear Research Institute (opening up opportunities for internships and work in a specialized research environment), and the Lam Dong Provincial General Hospital has a Department of Nuclear Medicine (where nuclear techniques are applied in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases),...
"Especially with the National Assembly's approval of the nuclear power project in Ninh Thuan province, this opens up great opportunities for graduates to work in the province right next to Lam Dong province," Dr. Toan emphasized.

Dr. Toan added that Dalat University is a public school under the Ministry of Education and Training with 67 years of establishment and development, covering an area of nearly 40 hectares. Currently, the school provides multi-disciplinary training with 40 majors including the following majors: Law - Economics - Tourism; Natural Sciences and Technology; Social Sciences and Humanities and especially teacher training with 9 pedagogical majors. Current tuition fees are about 7.5 - 8.5 million VND/semester, suitable for students from provinces in the Central Highlands and South Central regions.
