On the afternoon of December 10th in Pattaya, Vietnamese canoeing created a moment of overwhelming emotion. The two skilled paddlers, Nguyen Thi Huong and Diep Thi Huong, brilliantly finished first in the women's C-2 500m double sculls final with a time of 2 minutes 6 seconds 487, bringing home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.
Before the competition, experts predicted Nguyen Thi Huong was the strongest contender for the gold medal. Along with her teammate Diep Thanh Huong, the 24-year-old female athlete from Vinh Phuc province did not disappoint the fans' expectations. Canoeing and rowing are "gold mines," and the events in the following days promise even more success for Vietnamese rowers. It's worth remembering that at the 31st SEA Games, Vietnam caused a sensation by winning 8 gold medals in rowing and canoeing.

Taekwondo, a true strength of Vietnamese martial arts, also proved its worth. After their unsuccessful appeal against the results of the mixed doubles poomsae final between Nguyen Thi Kim Ha and Nguyen Trong Phuc, the team performing the mixed creative poomsae with six martial artists—Le Tran Kim Uyen, Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Tran Dang Khoa, Tran Ho Duy, Nguyen Thi Y Binh, and Nguyen Phan Khanh Han—successfully surpassed the host team from Thailand to win the gold medal.
Two valuable gold medals in rowing and taekwondo, along with the determined performances of jujitsu and chess athletes, have created momentum for the Vietnamese sports delegation's journey to conquer the 33rd SEA Games.
The road ahead is arduous, awaiting the efforts of each athlete. Swimmer Tran Hung Nguyen's successful defense of his 200m individual medley gold medal for the fourth consecutive Games also affirms the potential and aspiration for victory of Vietnamese swimming, one of the official Olympic sports.
Later that evening, athlete Nguyen Van Dung brought home the fourth gold medal for the Vietnamese delegation after winning the petanque event.
Today, December 11th, in addition to the men's and women's football matches, Vietnamese sports teams are also participating in many key sports such as kayaking, chess, swimming, volleyball, athletics, and gymnastics…
This is the golden opportunity for athletes to accelerate, ready to break away on the medal table for each sport and the overall medal standings.
"As of 7:30 PM on December 10th, the Vietnamese delegation had won 4 gold medals."
