In their opening match of Group B in the women's volleyball tournament at the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese team (ranked 28th in the world) secured a dominant 3-0 victory against Myanmar, while Malaysia lost 0-3 to Indonesia.

Compared to Malaysia, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is rated much higher.

Coach Tuan Kiet's team entered the tournament with a well-balanced squad, a stable attack, and the ability to quickly switch between attacking and defensive phases, featuring players like Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, Le Thanh Thuy, and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh…

In this match, coach Tuan Kiet will continue to experiment with different lineups in preparation for the upcoming challenging matches. At the same time, athlete Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is likely to get some playing time to warm up after being sidelined in the opening match.

The Malaysian women's volleyball team also doesn't participate in many international tournaments. The head-to-head history also favors Vietnam, with Vietnam winning all previous encounters between the two teams.
