This victory propelled Coach Mai Duc Chung's team straight to the top of Group B in the women's football event at the 33rd SEA Games, securing their place in the semi-finals against Indonesia on December 14th. The other semi-final will be a clash between Thailand and the Philippines.

After the match against Myanmar, coach Mai Duc Chung said: “Before the match started, we all agreed that the whole team only had one way to advance to the semi-finals: we had to win. My players played with great spirit.”

"In front of a large crowd of Myanmar fans in the stands, my players not only didn't feel pressured but also saw it as motivation to play better. I am proud of them," added coach Mai Duc Chung.

From a professional standpoint, this experienced coach revealed important changes in playing style that helped the Vietnamese women's football team transform and ultimately win against Myanmar.

Coach Chung shared: “I told the players that if we played defensively, we would put ourselves in a difficult position. The Vietnamese women's team played aggressively with great determination, which surprised and caught the opponent off guard.”

"The reality on the field showed that our changes were correct. Both goals for the Vietnamese women's team came from attacking situations that we had practiced thoroughly. Then, Huynh Nhu came on in the second half, which helped improve the team's ability to maintain rhythm," said coach Mai Duc Chung.

Having overcome considerable pressure to reach the semi-finals, the goals of the Vietnamese women's football team in general, and coach Mai Duc Chung in particular, have not yet ended.

The coach shared: “Our opponent in the semi-finals is Indonesia, who have made rapid progress recently. We respect them, but the Vietnamese women's football team will focus intensely on the goal of winning in the semi-finals.”
