Hanoi is organizing the 10th grade entrance exam in 2025, expected to last until June 22. According to the plan, the announcement of Hanoi's 10th grade exam scores this year will be around July 4-6. Also during this time, the Department will announce the standard scores of the schools.
The admission scores for grade 10 public schools in Hanoi in recent years often show a huge gap between schools in central districts, suburban areas and rural areas. Most of the schools with low admission scores are located in suburban areas such as Ba Vi, Thach That, Ung Hoa, My Duc, etc.
For example, with the previous years' admission score calculation formula of the total score of Math and Literature multiplied by a coefficient of 2 plus the score of Foreign Language and priority points, at many schools in Hanoi, with an average of just 3 points per subject, candidates could be admitted to public grade 10.
For example, Minh Quang High School (Ba Vi), in the past 3 years, candidates only need an average of 3.4-3.6 points/subject to be admitted. Similarly, to enter Bac Luong Son High School (Thach That) and Luu Hoang High School (Ung Hoa), candidates need to achieve about 3-4 points/subject.
Despite having low admission scores, these schools still cannot meet their enrollment targets every year, have to recruit additional students, and are often considered "overflow" schools (no limit on enrollment areas).
In addition, these are also the schools that are always in the group with the lowest competition rates in Hanoi. This year, according to the competition rate announced by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training before the exam, the whole city has 13 schools that received fewer applications for first choice than the quota, most of which are high schools in the suburbs.

Top public schools with the lowest competition rate for grade 10 in Hanoi in 2025.
For example, Tho Xuan High School has the lowest competition rate for grade 10 this year at about 1/0.64. The number of students registering for their first choice for grade 10 at this school is 348 while the school's quota is 540.
Right after that is Dai Cuong High School with a competition ratio of 1/0.65, Minh Quang High School with a competition ratio of 1/0.73.
Statistics from VietNamNet show that in the top 10 high schools in Hanoi with the lowest competition rates in 2025, there are 3 schools in enrollment area 8 (Ba Vi, Phuc Tho, Son Tay) and 3 schools in enrollment area 12 (My Duc, Ung Hoa), the rest are in enrollment areas 5, 6, 7, 9.
This level is similar to last year when the 10 least competitive schools had competition ratios ranging from 1/0.63 to 1/0.98.
However, according to the leader of a secondary school in Hanoi, the competition rate is only considered as a basis, not completely deciding the standard score. In addition, some other factors must be considered such as the quality of registered candidates and the difficulty level of the exam.
With this year's exam, all three subjects were assessed as "easy" and "not challenging for candidates", many teachers predicted that the benchmark score could increase slightly by about 0.25 - 0.5 points/subject compared to last year, including lower-ranked schools.
Below are the admission scores for grade 10 of the 20 high schools with the lowest admission rates in the 2022-2024 period. VietNamNet calculates the average admission scores for these schools over the years for parents and students to refer to.
