This is an activity within the framework of the Project "Enhancing legal aid for the poor and vulnerable" funded by the World Bank from support from the Japan Social Development Fund.
At the training course, the trainees were taught legal topics by lecturers from the Department of Justice and the Provincial Legal Aid Center, including: Practical situation in legal aid work and related issues in Lao Cai province; legal aid; propaganda and mobilization in mediation work at the grassroots level; prevention of recurrence of similar conflicts, disputes and violations of law; sharing and discussing some specific causes and solutions to prevent recurrence of similar conflicts, disputes and violations of law in the locality.


After the training course, the trainees will apply the knowledge into practice to improve the effectiveness of propaganda, consultation, and legal aid work for farmer members and the people; actively propagate the law, provide legal aid to farmer members, participate in mediation activities at the grassroots level to contribute to stabilizing order and social security in the locality.

It is known that Lao Cai province currently has over 2,900 grassroots mediation teams with about 16,000 mediators. Legal aid and mediation work at the grassroots level has actively contributed to raising people's legal awareness; actively supporting local authorities in resolving law violations and minor disputes among people, promptly resolving conflicts arising in the community. Thereby, limiting petitions and complaints at higher levels and maintaining security and order in the locality.
