5 railway lines connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai

(DN)- According to the Provincial People's Committee, in the railway network planning, there are 5 railway lines connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai province. Of which, there are 2 urban railway lines and 3 national railway lines.

Specifically, the railway lines connecting the two localities are planned for investment and construction in the coming time, including: Extension of the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line to the Administrative Center of Dong Nai province and Long Thanh International Airport; Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway; high-speed railway on the North - South axis; railway connecting Tan Son Nhat Airport with Long Thanh Airport and Ho Chi Minh City - Loc Ninh railway.

The Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro Line Extension Project to Dong Nai Provincial Administrative Center and Long Thanh Airport has been basically agreed upon by Dong Nai Province on the route to be implemented. This project has a total length of more than 41km, using high-speed urban railway (MRT) technology. The project has a preliminary total investment of about more than 60 trillion VND. Currently, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has assigned the investor to prepare a project proposal, striving to complete the procedures to complete the investor selection in 2026.

Meanwhile, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway is planned to have a route length of about 84km, with a route from Trang Bom station to Vung Tau station. In addition, at Thi Vai pre-port station, there is a branch to Cai Mep port cluster and Thi Vai port cluster.

The railway route connecting Tan Son Nhat airport and Long Thanh has been reported by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to the Prime Minister for investment policy. Dong Nai province is waiting for the research plan of Ho Chi Minh City to study and update it into the provincial planning and related planning.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Loc Ninh railway line is about 128km long, starting from Di An station and ending at Hoa Lu International Border Gate. Of which, the Di An - Chon Thanh section is planned as a double track, the Chon Thanh - Loc Ninh section is planned as a single track.

The high-speed railway line on the North-South axis has been approved by the National Assembly in Resolution No. 172/2024/QH15 (November 30, 2024), with a length of more than 1,500 km, of which the section passing through Dong Nai province is about 80 km long.

Currently, for the railway system, the connection between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province is made via the North-South Thong Nhat railway line.
