Artists beloved by the public such as Nguyen Huy Thiep, Bao Ninh, Nguyen Dinh Thi, Pham Tuyen, Tran Tien… are all on the list of outstanding Vietnamese literary and performing arts works voted after the country's reunification.

On the morning of November 30, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony to announce the selection of 50 outstanding Vietnamese literary and performing arts works after the country's reunification (1975 - 2025). Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh attended and delivered a speech at the announcement ceremony.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 50 outstanding works vividly reflect the changes of the country, the aspirations for peace , national harmony, and the achievements in building and defending the Fatherland in the new period.

The activity aims to honor and recognize the great contributions of generations of artists who have used art to preserve history and nurture the Vietnamese soul and personality.

Strengthening pride in Vietnamese cultural traditions, fostering the spirit of solidarity, patriotism and the will to rise of the nation. This is also an opportunity for the public to look back at the great achievements of Vietnamese literature and performing arts over the past half century.

Among the 50 outstanding literary and performing arts works, there are 14 literary works, 18 theatrical works, 12 musical works and 6 dance works.

In the field of literature, there are the novels The Sorrow of War by Bao Ninh, Myself and They by Nguyen Binh Phuong, Mother of the Highlands by Nguyen Xuan Khanh, Land of Many People and Ghosts by Nguyen Khac Truong, Falling Leaves in the Garden by Ma Van Khang, Distant Times by Le Luu, and Wharf Without a Husband by Duong Huong;

The memoir The Sunken Island by Tran Dang Khoa, the short story collections The Water God's Daughter by Nguyen Huy Thiep, Reed Grass by Nguyen Minh Chau, Endless Field by Nguyen Ngoc Tu; the long poems Those Who Go to the Sea by Thanh Thao, The Road to the City by Huu Thinh, and January Songs by Y Phuong.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh affirmed that after the country was reunified, over the past 50 years, Vietnamese literature and performing arts have truly become the blood and flesh, the voice of conscience, and the spirit of the nation.

Typical works published during this period have realistically and vividly recorded the country's journey of overcoming difficulties due to the severe consequences of war, siege, embargo, and successfully carrying out the renovation and international integration.

Today's ceremony to announce 50 outstanding Vietnamese literary and performing arts works is not only an honoring event, but also an act of deep gratitude from the Party, State and people to generations of artists.

It is a tribute to the silent sacrifices and tireless creations that have built up the Vietnamese spirit, mettle, and soul.

Need great works that reflect the stature of a nation

On this occasion, the ministry also launched the creation of literary and artistic works Living Forever with Time for the period 2026 - 2030 towards the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding and the 85th anniversary of National Day September 2.

The program aims to preserve and spread Vietnamese historical, cultural and spiritual values ​​through works of great stature and longevity. Honoring the glorious journeys of the Party, of President Ho Chi Minh, the heroic history of the nation, the great achievements of the country after nearly a century of struggle and construction...

All Vietnamese citizens at home and abroad, foreigners living, working and studying in Vietnam can submit works in the genres of literature, music, theater, dance, with no limit on quantity.

The composition themes include: Praising the Party and President Ho Chi Minh; Vietnam's revolutionary tradition; reflecting the reality of life, setting examples of good people and good deeds; fighting against negativity; love for the homeland and country, promoting the image of Vietnam; reflecting the country's development achievements.
