630 billion VND to build cargo terminal at Da Nang airport

DNVN - Recently, the People's Committee of Da Nang City issued Decision 1697/QD-UBND approving the investment policy to adjust the project to build a cargo terminal at Da Nang International Airport with a total investment of more than 630 billion VND.

The land area planned for the construction of the cargo terminal at Da Nang International Airport is nearly 25,000m2 (including the cargo terminal land plot of more than 14,000m2 and the cargo terminal land plot of more than 10,000m2). The total investment capital for the project is more than 630 billion VND, using 100% of the equity capital of Vietnam Airports Corporation (JSC) and disbursed according to the project progress.

According to the progress of implementing the main operational objectives of the project, it is expected that by 2030, the cargo terminal of Da Nang International Airport will reach the capacity target according to the approved planning with a cargo output of about 100,000 tons/year.

Regarding the progress of basic construction and putting the project into operation, exploitation and operation, according to the approval in Decision 1697/QD-UBND, from June 2022 to the second quarter of 2025, the investor will carry out investment preparation work and adjust the local planning of the project construction land.

From the second quarter of 2025 to the fourth quarter of 2026 (18 months), basic construction will be implemented and the project will be put into operation, with a capacity of 50,000 tons/year. Of which, the project preparation phase (feasibility study report preparation; appraisal and approval) will be 3 months; the project implementation phase (technical design, bidding and construction) will be 15 months.

From the third quarter of 2028 to the first quarter of 2029 (expected 6 months), invest in additional equipment and put the project into operation, exploiting and operating at a capacity of 100,000 tons/year.

Previously, in 2022, the People's Committee of Da Nang City issued Decision 1643/QD-UBND approving the investment policy for the project to build a cargo terminal at Da Nang International Airport with a total investment of 350 billion VND from the development investment capital of the Joint Stock Company. To ensure a capacity of 100,000 tons/year, the Joint Stock Company proposed to adjust the total investment to 630 billion VND.

After the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction ) appraised and adjusted the local planning of the land area for the construction of the cargo terminal at Da Nang International Airport, the People's Committee of Da Nang City officially issued a Decision approving the investment policy to adjust the project to build the cargo terminal at Da Nang International Airport.

Director of Da Nang International Airport Phan Kieu Hung said that this is one of three key projects (the other two projects are to build infrastructure for the remaining land area north of the airport and expand terminal T1) that Da Nang International Airport plans to implement in 2025 to meet the increasing demand for goods through Da Nang airport, while also serving the development of air logistics services in Da Nang city.
