5 years of struggling, working as a manager to make a living

Vo Duc Tri was born in 1996, known to the audience when he won the runner-up position of The Voice - The Voice of Vietnam 2019 as a member of the music group Dominix.

The mash-up shows A drunken night x Borrowing alcohol to confess or Afraid of love x Love like the last day of love were popular and loved at that time.

Although he won the runner-up position, Vo Duc Tri's name did not create much weight in the public eye, partly because at that time he was only a member of a music group.

In addition, the 2019 season of The Voice Vietnam is considered the most unsuccessful in the history of the program. Up to now, except for Lam Bao Ngoc, Juky San and Bao Yen Rosie, most of the contestants, including champion Hoang Duc Thinh, have disappeared.

After the contest, Vo Duc Tri spent money to make the MVs "Stupid than a fool" (2019), "Tears dry" (2020) and "That girl" (2021).

Spending hundreds of millions of accumulated assets but the results were not as expected, plus the Covid-19 outbreak, made 9X become negative for a long time.

The singer confided: "During the pandemic, many problems piled up, making me completely disoriented, my passion for the profession was gone. I was depressed, no longer passionate about doing anything."

In June 2022, Vo Duc Tri pulled himself together and released the song "Thinking, Thinking, and Sadness" composed by Pham Dinh Thai Ngan, but once again faced a humiliating reality.

He decided to take a break from music and join a company to try his hand at a new career - livestream idol. After 2 months, the 9X was not comfortable with going on TikTok to "play tricks, PK, and pay the bet" (livestream activities that challenge other users to see who gets more likes and gifts from viewers - PV) so he quit.

Listening to his superiors' advice, Vo Duc Tri moved to the position of managing the schedules and work of livestream idols in the company.

Despite his stable income, the 9X still misses music and the feeling of sublimation on stage. After a period of nurturing his passion for art, at the end of 2023, he decided to quit his job at his old company and join his current artist management company. The singer also reappeared on some TV game shows.

What is the future for the Voice Vietnam runner-up?

Deciding to return to music, Vo Duc Tri is ready to start over. Two years of working outside of the arts has helped him stabilize his finances and nurture his passion.

At the age of three, he first performed on the kindergarten stage, at the age of eight he started competing in school-level arts, then at the provincial/city level and in competitions such as Tieng hat Hoa Phuong Do, Do Re Mi...

"After going through ups and downs as well as working other jobs, I realized that I am still most passionate about music. Now, I believe I am mentally stronger to go a long way in my career," the singer said.

Joining a new company, Vo Duc Tri has not had any shows yet and is currently living on a monthly salary. He focuses on practicing his performance skills and composing. The 9X is confident in the melody but does not know how to write lyrics.

"After a few years in the profession, I got to know a few people but never dared to say 'If you have a new song, please remember me'. I'm very shy, and even if I had a song, I wouldn't have the money to buy it, so for the past few years I've mainly sung songs given to me by young musicians," he said.

Vo Duc Tri added that his biggest support is his family. During the most difficult times, he often returned to his hometown in An Giang for a few days, realizing that even though life is precarious, his parents are always there for him.

"Since I was little, my mother has accompanied me in art competitions. She always supported her son in pursuing his career but still left a warning: 'If you are not successful, come back and take over the family karaoke business'," he confided.
