Specifically, on July 31, AEON Financial Service Co., Ltd. announced to clarify information related to the transfer of Post and Telecommunication Finance Company Limited (PTF) from SeABank.
In the announcement, AFS said SeABank was not involved and did not know about possible provisioning differences at PTF in the period before the transaction was completed.
At the same time, AFS has also officially withdrawn its initial announcement regarding the review of the transaction and affirmed its continued long-term management and development of PTF.
The statement from the Japanese partner was made after discussions with SeABank since June 6, when AFS suddenly unilaterally announced the cancellation of the transaction due to discovering some inadequacies in PTF's accounting report.
The above information was also confirmed by a SeABank representative this afternoon. In addition, SeABank said it had signed a cooperation agreement with AFS to develop retail products and services to meet the needs of both parties' customers in Vietnam.
Previously in October 2023, AEON announced that it had signed an agreement to acquire all shares in PTF from SeABank.
The transaction was completed on February 3, 2025, making PTF officially a consolidated subsidiary of AEON Financial Service. The deal between SeABank and AEON Financial with a contract to transfer 100% of shares of PTF Finance Company is worth VND 4,300 billion.
In today's trading session, SeABank's SSB shares also showed positive signs with an increase of nearly 3%. In the past month, this stock has increased by nearly 10% in the context of a positive stock market, with the VN-Index climbing to an all-time high.
