Speeding up construction of Gia Binh airport, aiming for APEC 2027

The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has just reported on the province's implementation results in investing in the construction of Gia Binh International Airport and related projects.

Accordingly, this is an important and urgent group of projects, striving to be completed in 2026 in time to welcome heads of state and tourists visiting and working in Vietnam during the 2027 APEC Summit.

Currently, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province is focusing on clearing the land of the above airport with an area of nearly 1,960 hectares. Of which, more than 124 hectares have been handed over to the Ministry of Public Security to implement the project phase 1.

Up to now, localities continue to hand over to investors to construct on an area of over 600 hectares. For related projects, related parties are organizing compensation, support, resettlement...

To speed up progress, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province proposed that the National Assembly allow the relocation of historical and cultural relics when implementing the project.

The provincial government will coordinate with relevant agencies to move the relics to suitable locations, associated with conservation and promotion of their values. Ministries and sectors will consider supplementing compensation and site clearance policies to closely follow reality.

The Ministry of Construction is considering adding about 250 hectares of land between Gia Binh Airport and the road connecting the airport to Hanoi in the coming period. In addition, Bac Ninh has asked the construction industry to consider additional technical factors to limit the impact on the entire project, for example, planning the railway network.

Interest rate forecast for the end of the year

In a recently released report, Vietcombank Securities (VCBS) said that in the third quarter, the foreign exchange market recorded increasing pressure. Specifically, the exchange rate at joint stock commercial banks increased by 296 VND in the month and reached 26,176/26,446 VND.

In addition, the exchange rate on the free market also increased sharply and traded around 26,600 VND/USD. Accordingly, since the beginning of the year, VND has depreciated about 4.1% compared to USD.

The State Bank recently sold foreign currency through a 180-day, cancelable forward contract. The transaction was only made to credit institutions with negative foreign currency positions, at a selling price of VND26,550/USD.

VCBS believes that the move is aimed at stabilizing the foreign exchange market, as well as still aiming to ensure foreign exchange reserves. This unit forecasts that the upward pressure on the USD/VND exchange rate in the fourth quarter of 2025 may ease, and the exchange rate may gradually stabilize again.

In addition, VCBS forecasts that deposit interest rates may increase slightly again at some joint stock commercial banks by the end of the year to meet capital needs and control systemic risks, but will still be maintained at a low level in line with the orientation of supporting growth.

Meanwhile, lending interest rates are expected to remain stable, continuing to support production and business enterprises and priority sectors.

SMC Chairman registered to buy 1 million shares

Mr. Pham Hoang Anh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of SMC Joint Stock Company - has just sent a report to the Securities Commission on insider trading registration.

Accordingly, Mr. Hoang Anh registered to buy 1 million SMC shares by order matching method from November 5 to December 4, with the purpose of investing and increasing ownership ratio.

Before the transaction, this person did not hold any SMC shares. If the transaction is successful, Mr. Hoang Anh will increase his holding ratio at SMC from 0% to 1.36% of the company's charter capital.

It is known that Mr. Pham Hoang Anh was elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of SMC more than a month ago, following the nomination of a new group of shareholders holding more than 20% of shares - currently the largest shareholder in the enterprise.

Immediately after taking office, Mr. Hoang Anh initiated a comprehensive restructuring plan to restore the position of SMC - a business once considered a "giant" in the steel trading sector in Vietnam.

The average income of workers is 8.4 million VND/month.

According to the third quarter 2025 labor market bulletin of the Institute of State Organization and Labor Sciences (Ministry of Home Affairs), Vietnam has 53.3 million people participating in the labor force, an increase of more than 583,000 people compared to the same period last year.

This quarter recorded an average income of workers of VND 8.4 million/month, an increase of nearly VND 748,000 compared to the same period in 2024 and more than VND 124,000 compared to the previous quarter.

In the first 9 months of 2025, wage workers received an average salary of 9.4 million VND/month, an increase of 877,000 VND over the same period last year.

Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposed to increase the regional minimum wage by 7.2% from January 1, 2026, coinciding with the recommendation of the National Wage Council, equivalent to VND250,000 - 350,000/month depending on the region.

With this increase, the minimum wage will be about 0.6% higher than the minimum living standard in 2026. Specifically, region 1 is 5.31 million VND/month, region 2 is 4.73 million VND/month, region 3 is 4.14 million VND/month and region 4 is 3.7 million VND/month.
