DNVN - Airwallex - an international financial and payment platform for growing businesses, has recently signed an agreement to acquire CTIN Pay, a company specializing in providing intermediary payment services in Vietnam.
The acquisition will add to Airwallex’s network of operations in major markets in the Asia- Pacific (APAC) region, including Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, mainland China and Japan. At the same time, this move will strengthen Airwallex’s global financial infrastructure, support Vietnamese businesses to expand into international markets and facilitate foreign businesses to enter the Vietnamese market.
With its strong growth rate and rapid digital transformation, the Vietnamese economy is now considered an important strategic market for Airwallex in the region. By expanding its financial infrastructure in Southeast Asia, Airwallex will help Vietnamese businesses develop smoothly in the international market.
“Entering the Vietnam market is an important step in Airwallex’s strategy to build a global financial platform,” said Arnold Chan, General Manager of Airwallex Asia Pacific . “Vietnam has a fast-growing economy and a dynamic business environment that will bring great opportunities. We believe that solving the financial challenges in this market will help local businesses expand internationally.”
To accelerate its expansion in Southeast Asia, Airwallex has appointed Ershad Ahamed as its Regional Head of Southeast Asia. Ershad has extensive experience working in high-growth technology companies in Singapore, with a proven track record of driving growth and profitability. Most recently, he held senior management positions at Grab, including Chief Commercial Officer of GrabFin Indonesia and Regional Head of Payments, playing a key role in building Grab’s payments and lending business. He has also held leadership roles in growth, marketing and market strategy at Rakuten and Procter & Gamble.
Airwallex is actively pursuing an acquisition strategy to expand its global presence and build a solid financial foundation for businesses around the world. The Vietnam deal comes shortly after Airwallex completed its acquisition of MexPago, an IFPE-licensed payment service provider in Mexico.
Founded in Melbourne in 2015 and now headquartered in Singapore, Airwallex has surpassed $600 million in revenue and $130 billion in annual transaction value globally, underscoring the growing demand for its cross-border payment solutions and global financial infrastructure.
