Concept album is a concept to refer to a music album with the same theme, unified and consistent ideology. Interestingly, recent concept albums have sought new forms of expression, no longer limited to music but combined with art exhibitions to highlight the artist's creativity, while bringing different experiences to listeners and viewers of music.
DOUBLE THE EXPERIENCE
Recently, singer Hoang Quyen organized the exhibition Quyen Gallery N0.1 combining music with painting and installation art at Vincom Contemporary Art Center ( Hanoi ), on the occasion of the release of her 4th album A Diary of Melody . The exhibition has the ambition to recreate the musical soul and art world of the runner-up of Vietnam Idol 2012.
Hoang Quyen performs in an installation art space
Coming to the exhibition, the audience not only enjoys the album but also feels many other elements through Hoang Quyen's artistic experiments. That is the projection on the wall space combining painting with 3D technology, showing the MV, documents in the music production process and the journey of creating a physical version of this music disc using lacquer material... With silk works printed with the music scores of the songs as well as many images throughout the album arranged..., the exhibition has created an "intercultural spirit" when there is an intersection between art forms in the same space and time.
Not only displaying works with similar ideas during the project implementation phase, artists also connect with each other to share inspiration and inner emotions in derivative products. For example, Hoang Quyen combined to display 40 silk, oil, and lacquer paintings by famous artists including Vu Dinh Tuan, Tao Linh, Nguyen Tran Cuong, Vu Hiep, and Nguyen Manh Thang. Or in the framework of the live concert "Alone and Vast" to celebrate 30 years of musical activities recently, musician Do Bao combined with painter Bui Thanh Tam to recreate his latest inspiration through painting materials.
Touliver and some of his paintings in the Mid-life Crisis exhibition
Many artists also organize art exhibitions as a way to satisfy their "thirst" for creativity, while also helping audiences and art lovers enter and experience their art space. In the near future, musician and music producer Touliver will organize the exhibition Mid-life Crisis (from December 3 to 11 in Ho Chi Minh City) displaying more than 20 paintings that he has cherished for the past 5 years. Young artist VP Ba Vuong, who studied architecture at university, has just organized the painting exhibition Why me Find me - Why and Search!? (November 29 and 30 in Ho Chi Minh City). The exhibition is an activity in a series of projects to launch VP Ba Vuong's album of the same name, aiming to bring a "double" experience to the audience when they can enjoy art through both hearing and sight.
EXTENDING INSPIRATION
Last year, violinist Hoang Rob and rapper Suboi held multi-technological exhibitions, combining the latest creative ideas to bring novelty, adding elements such as scent, light, 3D mapping... These exhibitions are no longer derived from musical ideas, but have broken away, can stand alone because of their novelty and unique creative depth. Suboi's Thau Than exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City had a record number of visitors that lasted until the last day. Hoang Quyen's Quyen Gallery N0.1 exhibition in Hanoi lasted 26 days and welcomed nearly 100,000 visitors.

Artists are increasingly focusing on providing a comprehensive and multi-sensory experience for audiences. This not only helps the audience get closer to the creator’s message but also opens up their own reflections, thereby creating understanding and more opportunities for both sides to connect with each other.
This combination also shows that artists are more concerned and interested in the quality of their products, in the way their works can reach and connect with the audience. They do not want music to come and go quickly, but actively seek different expressions so that the works have a long-lasting vitality and are remembered longer in the Vietnamese music market.
