Authorities have closed about 134 roads, including four national highways, as snowfall of up to 15cm (6 inches) fell in many places, according to The Hindu. Daily life in many parts of Himachal Pradesh has been disrupted, local media reported.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more snowfall in the next few days. After experiencing a drier-than-normal December and January, northern India, comprising seven meteorological divisions, is likely to receive above-normal rainfall (more than 122% of the average) in February, the IMD said. Below-normal rainfall is expected in the southern part of peninsular India.
