Authorities have closed about 134 roads, including four national highways, as snowfall of up to 15cm (6 inches) fell in many places, according to The Hindu. Local media reported that normal life in many parts of Himachal Pradesh was disrupted.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more snowfall in the next few days. After experiencing drier-than-normal December and January, northern India, comprising seven meteorological divisions, is likely to receive above-normal rainfall (more than 122% of the average) in February, the IMD said. Below-normal rainfall is expected in southern peninsular India.
