An Giang: Forensic conclusion determines the cause of 20-month-old baby's unusual death

On June 7, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van An, Deputy Chief of Chau Thanh District Police ( An Giang Province), said that there was a forensic conclusion determining the cause of NHB's death and this conclusion had been sent to Ms. Nguyen Thi Tham (mother of baby B.) and Phan Ngoc Minh Thu (owner of Minh Ngoc daycare center, also the babysitter).

Accordingly, the forensic agency discovered that on baby B's body there was subcutaneous hematoma on the forehead, vertex, temple, and left occiput; a 12cm skull fracture in the left parietal area; a small amount of epidural hematoma in the left parietal area; abdominal bruising, complex rupture of the mesentery and mesenteric artery...

The forensic agency determined the cause of baby B's death was acute hemorrhagic shock due to closed abdominal trauma and rupture of the mesenteric artery.

The Investigation Police Agency of Chau Thanh District Police invited Ms. Thu to give her statement and continue to investigate the case.

Minh Ngoc Daycare Center was frequently closed before and after the incident.

Previously, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , at around 2:35 p.m. on May 25, Ms. Phan Ngoc Minh Thu discovered that NHB had an unusual fever, so she called B.'s mother and asked her family to take her to the doctor.

Afterwards, the family came to pick up and take baby B. to the district hospital for emergency treatment. At around 5:00 p.m. the same day, baby B. died.

Chau Thanh District People's Committee said that Minh Ngoc childcare center has not been licensed. This place opened on its own in early 2022, with about 5-10 children.
