On the morning of May 8, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province held a conference to deploy the Summer-Autumn Crop Production Project in 2025.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Linh and Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Le Ngoc Huan chaired the conference.
The 2024 summer-autumn crop achieved many successes when the total cultivated area reached 44,864 hectares, food output 234,861 tons, making an important contribution to the socio -economic development of the province. In particular, the process of land concentration and accumulation has created favorable conditions for mechanization, irrigation regulation, application of technical advances, care, pest control; attracting businesses to invest in production linkage, product consumption, contributing to increasing productivity and economic efficiency.

The application of science and technology and digital transformation are of interest, such as: implementing rice production with VietGAP and organic certification; using transplanters and drones to spray pesticides in concentrated areas and land accumulation; granting codes for growing areas; producing vegetables, flowers of all kinds, and melons in greenhouses and net houses...
Entering the 2025 summer-autumn crop, agricultural production continues to face many risks and challenges: localized drought in some areas at the end of the canal, high pressure; severe heat coincides with the rice flowering period; extreme weather can affect the progress and growth of upland crops. Storms and tropical depressions affecting Ha Tinh are forecast to be higher than the average of many years and in 2024, especially need to be on guard against storms directly affecting coastal areas.
Pests that frequently appear irregularly (small leaf rollers, brown planthoppers, white-backed planthoppers, bacterial leaf blight and the risk of black-striped dwarf disease, mobile yellow leaf disease on rice; fall armyworm on corn...), potentially causing harm, affecting crop productivity and output.
In addition, many favorable factors also motivate farmers to actively participate in production such as: mechanization in agriculture is increasingly widely applied; water sources in dams basically meet the irrigation demand for summer-autumn rice production; diverse crop varieties, high yield, good quality and adaptability to local farming conditions; reduced fertilizer prices;...
Based on the assessment of favorable and unfavorable factors, Ha Tinh strives to have a total cultivated area of 55,986 hectares, with a food output of 294,425 tons. Of which, summer-autumn rice has an area of 45,170 hectares, with an output of over 236,300 tons; upland crops have an area of 10,681 hectares, with an output of 57,852 tons; and winter-spring rice has an area of 135 hectares, with an output of 273 tons.

To achieve high results in production, Ha Tinh proactively and synchronously deploys production solutions; mobilizes all resources to quickly harvest spring rice, focuses on planting summer-autumn rice; takes advantage of the time after harvesting spring crops, when the soil is still moist enough to focus on planting dry crops.
In addition, continue to focus on land concentration and accumulation associated with land consolidation, land conversion, improvement and improvement of rice land quality; organize preliminary reviews and assessments of post-concentration and accumulation production models; build and replicate commodity production models in post-accumulation areas; promptly transfer technical advances to production; organize assessments, summaries and replication of effective models. At the same time, strengthen state management of seeds, agricultural materials, food safety, etc.
Regarding rice production, the whole province focuses on sowing and planting the summer-autumn crop, striving to finish before June 15 and complete harvesting before September 10. The structure of using the main rice varieties with a growing period of less than 110 days is: Nep 98, Bac Thinh, Ha Phat 3, Khang Dan Mut Mut, Khang Dan 18, Xuan Mai, VNR20, Lai Thom 6, Thai Xuyen 111, Nhi Uu 838.

Speaking at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Linh emphasized: Based on the province's summer-autumn crop production project, depending on specific conditions, localities should focus on developing realistic planting plans, ensuring sustainable production and avoiding natural disasters. In particular, paying attention to implementing well the direction work to concentrate human and material resources, striving to finish planting summer-autumn rice before June 15; applying scientific and technical advances in production; focusing on checking and monitoring fields, doing well the work of investigating, detecting, estimating and forecasting pests on crops.
Localities need to proactively coordinate with the North Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited and the South Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited to balance water resources, ensuring sufficient irrigation for the planting area according to the plan; focus on implementing solutions to combat drought when the heat lasts for fruit trees and industrial tea trees.
Continue to effectively implement the central and provincial support policies on agricultural production development and new rural construction; pay attention to further promoting production linkages with enterprises towards commodity production. In the livestock sector, effectively carry out herd restoration and production development; focus on monitoring and effectively directing the work of disease prevention and control in livestock herds.
In addition, in hot weather conditions, departments, branches and localities need to strengthen inspection work, ensure forces, means and equipment, and effectively implement the "4 on-site" motto in forest fire prevention and fighting, with the spirit of "prevention is key".
