(NADS) - The first international competition Vietnam Bird Race held at Tram Chim National Park attracted many domestic and foreign photographers, recorded many rare bird species and inspired the younger generation to protect nature.
For the first time, the international wild bird photography competition called Vietnam Bird Race was held at Tram Chim National Park (Tam Nong District, Dong Thap ) and left deep and beautiful impressions.
The contest, organized by Tram Chim National Park in collaboration with Wildtour from May 10 to 12, attracted 77 professional photographers, including 17 international photographers from Southeast Asia, Peru, and Norway. The event was also attended by Dr. Tran Triet, Director of the Asian Crane Conservation Program of the International Crane Conservation Fund (ICF), Dr. Yong Ding Li from Birdlife (International Bird Conservation Fund), and sponsor Mapletree.
After two days of exciting work, the teams achieved results beyond expectations with a significant number of bird species captured. The Mad Bird team led with 71 species, followed by the O Tac team (70 species), Spot-Billed Pelican (69 species), and Philipinas (68 species). In particular, some rare bird species listed in the Vietnam and World Red Books such as Giang Sen, Dien Co Ran, and Spoon-billed Duck, which appeared for the first time at Tram Chim, were also recorded.
Vietnam Bird Race is not only a playground for wildlife photographers but also organizes a bird painting program for students under the guidance of artist Dao Van Hoang and his colleagues. This activity has inspired the younger generation, raising awareness of protecting wildlife, especially birds. The students' winning paintings were auctioned to raise funds for the Tam Nong District Department of Education and Training.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Sinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Wildlife Photography Club, shared: "This contest will connect and share with the domestic and international bird-loving community, encourage and attract more people interested in wildlife conservation, and at the same time promote tourism to destinations related to natural habitat conservation."
