Bat Xat district has 23 ethnic groups and branches with rich cultural identities. Over many generations, the ethnic groups in the Bat Xat highlands have created and preserved many traditional crafts, including weaving. With skillful hands and diligence, artisans in villages and hamlets have created many weaving handicrafts to serve daily life and the needs of the community.

Coming to the Mong and Ha Nhi villages in the highlands of Bat Xat district, you will often see men diligently weaving baskets. The basket weaving profession has existed for a long time and has been passed down through generations.

The raw material for weaving baskets is bamboo that grows in the forest. People choose bamboo that is 2-3 years old so that the bamboo strips are flexible and durable.

Nowadays, in Ha Nhi villages, there are only a few middle-aged and elderly people who know how to weave trays. Their bamboo and rattan trays are not only beautiful but also durable for decades.
