UK signs $500 million+ deal with Google Cloud

According to the UK Ministry of Defence, the above contract will allow UK intelligence and security agencies to use the most advanced technologies from Google Cloud - including artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics and cybersecurity.

Synchronizing technology infrastructure with the US is expected to enhance coordination in joint missions, especially in sensitive areas with high security.

The UK Ministry of Defence stressed that data stored on this platform will be completely under the control of the UK and will not be transmitted to the US via the Google Cloud system. This is an important condition to ensure data sovereignty and public trust.

Defence Secretary John Healey said: "This technology comes with strict data sovereignty and security controls, ensuring all critical data remains under direct UK control.

On the partner side, Google Cloud is committing millions of dollars to invest in the UK, including setting up a dedicated team to manage the program.

"This partnership will help the UK Government build a resilient digital infrastructure, taking full advantage of modern technological innovations while maintaining the highest levels of security and data sovereignty," said Tara Brady, President of Google Cloud for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The fact that the British Government signed a contract with Google Cloud at the same time as US President Donald Trump was preparing to visit the country made the event even more noteworthy.

According to the media, a number of senior leaders of US technology corporations will also accompany Mr. Trump on the trip. This is considered a signal of a new phase of cooperation, not only in the field of security, but also in terms of technology and investment./.
