Community initiatives

Hai Phong Traffic News Forum was born on January 11, 2023, originating from Mr. Long's obsession after witnessing many heartbreaking traffic accidents that could have been avoided if warned in time.

With the goal of "Joining hands to build Vietnamese traffic culture", the forum initially had only a few dozen members who were drivers who knew each other. But thanks to the tight organization, clear information, and unconditional service spirit, after a short time, the forum attracted more than 5,000 members who regularly updated, shared, and supported each other.

Regarding the way it works, Mr. Long said: Members continuously update traffic conditions on routes, provide warnings of accidents, collisions, congestion, traffic "black spots", share legal knowledge, analyze violations, update information on infrastructure and on-site shortcomings. The forum aims to help traffic participants proactively raise awareness. "All members operate completely voluntarily and non-profitably," Mr. Long affirmed.

Not stopping there, the forum's activities are diverse and rich in many fields. The forum also connects traffic rescue units, reputable repair garages, and supports drivers who have problems on the road. Organizes temporary traffic regulation when an accident is detected but the authorities have not arrived at the scene. Connects with media agencies and newspapers, becoming a reliable source of information to promptly reflect traffic conditions. Visits and gives gifts to families of traffic accident victims in difficult circumstances in Hai Phong...

“Not only is it a place to share information about road conditions, the forum is also a spiritual support where people are willing to help each other, from giving water to saving people in the middle of the night,” said La Trong Bang, a long-time member of the forum.

Silent

No office, no allowance, but the name Le Van Long is familiar to many drivers in Hai Phong. He is always there when someone needs help, regardless of the time.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Hung, a truck driver on the Hai Phong - Quang Ninh route, recounted: “My car broke down in the middle of the night on Phu Xa bridge, the warning lights were not on. It was too far to call for help, so I posted on the forum, and just a few minutes later, Mr. Long called and helped me find the nearest support point. Thanks to that, both the car and the person were safe.”

In addition, Mr. Long also directly wrote an analysis of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety with easy-to-understand and familiar language, helping readers better understand violations. Mr. Pham Van Khanh (Le Chan Ward), a new member of the forum, said: "Before, I thought running a yellow light was okay. But reading Mr. Long's analysis, I was shocked. A sudden brake can take away the whole family behind."

Behind Mr. Long's devotion is the silent companionship of his wife - Ms. Tran Thi Kien: "Many times while eating or going out with the family, he still turns on his phone to process information. At first I was angry, but then I saw many drivers calling to thank me, I felt proud," Ms. Kien confided.

Reporter Pham Tu Oanh, FM 102.2MHz traffic radio channel of Hai Phong Newspaper, Radio and Television, commented: “The Hai Phong Traffic News Forum is an extension of the press and the authorities in spreading timely and accurate information. Thanks to people like Mr. Long and the members of the forum, we have more reliable information data to reflect the traffic reality. It is a valuable bridge between the community and the authorities."

Sharing about his upcoming plans, Mr. Long said: “I am planning to build a network of collaborators in wards, communes, and special zones so that information can be updated more quickly and accurately. At the same time, we will continue to improve the quality of traffic law analysis, cooperate with legal experts and the media to raise public awareness.” Mr. Long also hopes that the forum will become a center for sharing traffic information, possibly integrating warning maps and community data in the near future.

In the hustle and bustle of life, there are still people who quietly contribute like Mr. Le Van Long. The articles and warnings he shares are not just information, but also contain concerns and love for the community. He does not want to be mentioned by name, only hopes that everyone who drives will always stay alert, for themselves and for their loved ones who are waiting for peace at home.
