The kitchen was set up on the afternoon of October 27th, on a voluntary basis by women from Thuan Hoa ward, teachers from various schools, and residents from neighboring areas.

Reportedly, up to 200 people participate in cooking and other tasks daily at the kitchen and multi-purpose gymnasium of Truong An Primary School. During peak periods of heavy rain and flooding, the kitchen provided 3,000 meals per day to residents in low-lying areas, isolated regions, and those severely affected by the storms and floods, completely free of charge.

To date, the kitchen has provided more than 7,000 hygienic and nutritious meals, along with drinking water and milk, to flood victims. The food supplies were mobilized from donations by benefactors and from those directly involved in cooking at the kitchen. It is understood that if the flood situation continues to worsen, the school will continue to open its doors so that volunteer groups can cook meals to help people in the flooded areas.

Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Chi Tai visited, encouraged, and commended the efforts of the women in organizing the charitable kitchen; he highly appreciated their initiative in contributing to supporting people in severely flooded areas to overcome difficulties, spreading the image of sharing among the people of Hue in times of hardship.
