The art program "Ao Dai and Music " took place at the stage on the banks of the Perfume River.

The space along the poetic Huong River - right in front of Quoc Hoc Hue High School - has become a meeting place for those who love art and traditional Ao Dai. The art program "Ao Dai and Music" jointly organized by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the Hue Traditional Royal Arts Theater has left many beautiful echoes in the hearts of thousands of audiences present at the program, at the same time closing the journey of the Hue Community Ao Dai Week 2025 - a highlight event of the Hue Festival and National Tourism Year.

The program was elaborately staged, combining music and fashion shows, bringing a vivid picture of the development and spread of the Ao Dai in the flow of Vietnamese culture. From lyrical songs by Pham Duy, Trinh Cong Son, Cung Tien, Hoang Thi Tho... to the scenes, dances and Ao Dai collections, all blended together to tell the journey of the Ao Dai being attached to the Vietnamese soul through many generations.

The opening performance was the song and dance performance “Tuoi Ngoc”, a nostalgic song by musician Pham Duy, choreographed by artists from Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theatre, Unity Dance Group and Hana Modelkids child model group. The lyrics “please give me more peaceful journeys” seemed to take the audience back to their memories, to their innocent and sweet childhood.

The performances were elaborately staged, combining music and fashion.

Interwoven into the program are Ao Dai collections from many “famous” designers of Hue. Each design carries a message, a unique beauty about the culture, history, love and soul of Hue.

Designer Viet Bao brings a collection of Ao Dai inspired by royal court patterns - the crystallization of the traditional aesthetic concepts of the ancients. From ceramic motifs, architecture to antiques, all are arranged harmoniously on a silk background, creating gentle but evocative Ao Dai. Like a whisper from the past: "Gentle is gentle, oh gentle, walk slowly, waiting for me to change seasons..."

Designer Doan Trang introduces her wedding ao dai collection - a symbol of sacredness and attachment on the big day. Couples performing in traditional wedding dresses evoke the familiar image of Vietnamese love - faithful, passionate and lasting over time.

Following are the colorful collections: “Sweet mountains and rivers” by designer Nhu Nguyen, “Ancient costumes” collection by Quang Hoa with the spirit of “the shadow of the capital”, or “Pure Hue” by Tran Thien Khanh - affirming that the ao dai is not only a traditional symbol but also a modern, highly applicable outfit, contributing to honoring the beauty and confidence of Vietnamese women in today’s life.

Minh Thao, a student at Hue University of Arts, said after watching the performance: " I feel very proud. Ao dai is not only a tradition, but also a fashion symbol that can stand side by side with great cultures. Today's designs both honor the past and make us feel close and want to wear it every day."

Music is an indispensable part. The song “Co Nu Sinh Dong Khanh” resounds with the scene of students in white ao dai leading their bikes home from school, making viewers emotional with seemingly ordinary moments that have gone deep into the memories of many generations. “Ha Trang” by musician Trinh Cong Son - a son of Hue, is recreated with the image of the ao dai flaps gathering all the sunlight. The lyrics “Even though the old ao dai is wrinkled, I still ask to call each other by name forever” seem to remind us of a faithful love.

The program also featured the Royal Music melody "Kim Tien, Xuan Phong, Long Ho" performed by zither artist Mai Nga and a group of models, bringing the audience back to the golden age of the capital.

The song “Oh Ao Dai”, a familiar melody to the 9x generation, resounded in a lively and intimate performance. There, the Ao Dai is present in life, in every street corner, in every daily moment.

Closing the program was the song "Vietnamese Ao Dai", in a space shimmering with lights, with Ao Dai flaps fluttering on the banks of the Huong River as an impressive and widespread farewell to the Hue Community Ao Dai Week 2025.

Thousands of viewers enjoyed watching the show.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's Ao Dai Week has 15 diverse activities: from the opening ceremony, traditional tailoring exhibition, "Ao Dai through the streets" cycling parade, "Ao Dai returns to its roots" journey, art programs, discussions in schools, to the ceremony to honor the Nguyen Dynasty kings associated with the formation and development of Ao Dai...

The ao dai, since the edict on clothing issued by King Vu Vuong Nguyen Phuc Khoat in Dang Trong, has undergone hundreds of years of development to become a cultural ambassador, a source of pride and endless artistic inspiration for the nation. For Hue in particular, the former capital, the place that preserves the elegance and grace of Vietnamese culture, the ao dai is not only a heritage but also an embodiment of the soul of the country.

“Ao Dai and Music” created a special harmony, closing but also opening many new inspirations for the journey of spreading the Vietnamese Ao Dai heritage in the hearts of people and international friends.
