Will Apple exclusively manufacture iPhone 17 in India?

Apple has been diversifying its supply chain over the past few years and India is one of the destinations chosen to manufacture its products. By 2023, 12-14% of global iPhone shipments will be made in India. Foxconn owns 75-80% of iPhone production in India. If all goes well, the percentage of iPhones made in India will increase to 20-25% by 2024.

iPhone 17 expected to be developed and manufactured in India

Foxconn's production scale in Henan and Shanxi provinces (China) is expected to decrease by 35-45% and 75-85% respectively by 2024. In addition to expanding production in India, assembler Luxshare is also rapidly increasing iPhone order allocation and improving production lines.

Reports from earlier this year suggested that Apple is planning to move up to 25% of its iPhone production to India by 2025, according to GSMArena .

According to Mr. Kuo, with the iPhone 17, for the first time, an iPhone model has begun development and production outside of China. Apple chose the basic iPhone 17 instead of the Pro models, because it is easier to develop as a way to reduce risk.

The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch in the fall of 2025. Previously, Apple started assembling iPhones in India since 2017.
