In response to this news, the Argentine Football Federation has asked to replace Indonesia as the host of the tournament to secure a place in the tournament. According to the Dobleamarilla news site, Argentina has submitted a proposal to host the U20 World Cup when FIFA canceled the draw for the tournament in Bali - Indonesia because the Bali Governor refused to allow U20 Israel to participate.

Argentina's U20s last won a youth tournament in 2007 in Canada.
"In the face of the possibility of FIFA canceling Indonesia's hosting status and changing the tournament venue, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) has submitted a proposal to replace the host of the tournament. The news site said that the proposal was sent a few days before FIFA canceled the draw and was reiterated by AFA after the official ceremony was canceled," Dobleamarrrila wrote.
The Argentina U20 team has participated in the tournament 16 times, winning the youth tournament 6 times. Argentina U20 missed out on the U20 World Cup when they lost to Paraguay, Brazil, Colombia and only had 1 victory against Peru in the South American U20 Championship (CONMEBOL U20) in January 2023.
After the World Cup championship of seniors Messi, Aguero, U20 Argentina is expected to follow in the footsteps of their seniors to win the world title at the youth level for the country. If the proposal to replace Indonesia as host is successful, U20 Argentina will have a place in the tournament as host and Indonesia will lose the right to participate in the tournament. Coach Javier Mascherano's team hopes to repeat the championship achievement of 2001 when hosting this youth tournament.
As planned, the U20 World Cup will take place from May 20 to June 11 at 6 stadiums with 24 participating teams. As the host, U20 Indonesia will automatically qualify for the finals and will not have to play in the qualifying round.
The 24 participating teams will be divided into 6 groups and the U20 teams are: Indonesia, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Korea, Japan, England, France, Israel, Italy, Slovakia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Dominica, Guatemala, Honduras, USA, Gambia, Nigeria, Senegal, Tunisia, Fiji and New Zealand.
According to Indonesian media, in addition to Argentina, Qatar and Peru are two countries that can host the U20 World Cup. With Qatar having the infrastructure available after successfully hosting the 2022 World Cup, there will be no difficulty in hosting the tournament.
Similarly, Peru's infrastructure is already in place when it hosts the U17 World Cup in November 2023. Previously, Peru was also competing with Indonesia for the U20 World Cup.
