Three people were electrocuted while drilling for geological exploration.

Ha Tinh: One person died and two others were injured while drilling for geological exploration to build an urban area under a 22kV medium voltage line.

At around 3pm on June 20, residents of Thach Trung Commune, Ha Tinh City, heard a loud explosion coming from a field in the commune, followed by a fire. Upon arriving at the scene, they found three people lying motionless due to electrical burns.

The victims were taken to the emergency room, of which Nguyen Trong Son, 46 years old, did not survive.

The leader of Ha Tinh Electricity Company said the three victims were workers of a construction company that was conducting geological surveys to build an urban area south of Cay Bridge. Because the drilling violated the safety distance, they were electrocuted.

"The construction company did not inform the electricity company so we did not know to have a protection plan," said the leader of Ha Tinh Electricity Company.

That same afternoon, Ha Tinh authorities were examining the scene and investigating the cause of the incident.
