Three provinces request central government support for upgrading National Highway 28

On May 9, the Department of Construction of Dak Nong province informed about the investment plan to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28.

National Highway 28 passes through 3 provinces of Binh Thuan , Lam Dong and Dak Nong, starting at Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan province); ending at EaTling town (Cu Jut district, Dak Nong province).

This route is of utmost importance to serve the socio-economic development, strengthen national security and defense of Dak Nong - Lam Dong - Binh Thuan province, is the horizontal axis connecting Ho Chi Minh road (QL14) with National Highway 1A, connecting the North-South expressway in the East (CT01) with the North-South expressway in the West (CT02), connecting the Central Highlands down to the seaports of Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan provinces...

However, because the road was invested and put into use a long time ago, it has degraded, is small in scale, does not ensure traffic safety, and does not meet the needs of socio-economic development.

The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28 will create development momentum for many localities.

Implementing the policy of the Party and the State, in the coming time, the three provinces of Dak Nong, Lam Dong, and Binh Thuan will merge, the traffic volume on the route will increase significantly.

Therefore, the investment in renovating and upgrading National Highway 28 is extremely necessary and urgent.

Dak Nong Department of Construction said that, in carrying out the tasks assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, the unit has taken the lead in coordinating the development of a draft investment plan report. At the same time, it has worked and discussed with the Department of Construction of Lam Dong and Binh Thuan provinces to complete the draft report proposing an investment plan for the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28 through Dak Nong - Lam Dong - Binh Thuan.

Dak Nong Department of Construction has completed consulting the Provincial People's Committee on the draft report and proposal of the three provinces of Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, and requested the Central Government to consider and support funding for the implementation of investment in construction, renovation and upgrading of the entire National Highway 28.

The total length of the route is expected to be about 308.3 km, with a scale of a grade III road; the total estimated cost is about 7,700 billion VND.

According to the Dak Nong Department of Construction, in case there is not enough capital to invest in the entire route, it is proposed to prioritize investment in upgrading National Highway 28, Phan Thiet - Di Linh - Gia Nghia section, about 197.3 km long, with a total estimated cost of about 4,900 billion VND.
