Bao Tin Minh Chau is one of the largest companies in the field of trading and processing gold, silver and gemstones in Vietnam.
On its official website, Bao Tin Minh Chau said that after more than 30 years of development, it has 3 business establishments in Hanoi and 200 agents nationwide.
Legal representative Bao Tin Minh Chau has transferred to the new person.
From the name "Bao Tin", many brands such as Bao Tin Minh Chau, Bao Tin Manh Hai, Bao Tin Thanh Van, Bao Tin Hoang Long... were born.
These brands are all run by the children of Ms. Luong Thi Diem - a pioneer in the jewelry industry in Hanoi.
Mr. Vu Minh Chau (born in 1953) is the eldest son of Ms. Diem. He founded the Bao Tin Minh Chau gold brand in 1989. This is also a famous and popular business among the Bao Tin "family" companies.
According to data from the national business registration system, in May 1995, Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited was officially established on the basis of upgrading from a gold shop located on Tran Nhan Tong Street, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi.
By 2018, Bao Tin Minh Chau had a charter capital of 100 billion VND. Of which, Mr. Vu Minh Chau contributed 90.17%, the rest was contributed by Mr. Vu Phuong Nam - Mr. Chau's eldest son, currently the company's deputy director.
Mr. Chau has been the general director and legal representative of Bao Tin Minh Chau since its establishment.
However, in October last year, the role of legal representative was transferred to Ms. Pham Lan Anh (born in 1976), director of this enterprise.
Regarding capital scale, in June 2024, Bao Tin Minh Chau increased its charter capital from 100 billion VND to 300 billion VND.
Mr. Chau contributed an additional VND200 billion, raising his ownership ratio to 96.72%. At this time, Mr. Nam reduced his ownership ratio to 3.27%, although the actual amount contributed remained unchanged.
Currently, Bao Tin Minh Chau brand still focuses on gold trading according to family tradition, with the famous product of Thang Long Dragon Gold, trusted by many people and investors. In addition, the company also trades in diamond jewelry, pearls, precious stones, etc.
Controversial because of statements, entangled in scandal after inspection
On his business journey, Mr. Vu Minh Chau also established a business outside the gold industry - Bao Minh Media Company Limited.
Established in July 2004 in Hanoi, this company has a charter capital of 1.5 billion VND. Two shareholders contribute capital: Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited (represented by Mr. Chau) contributes 99% of the capital and Mr. Vu Phuong Nam holds the remaining 1%.
After operating for a while, in 2019, Mr. Chau signed a decision to dissolve this media company. In a notice sent to the management agency, he said the company encountered many difficulties in business and personnel organization.
"Companies operating in the same field compete too fiercely, so this unit does not want to continue operating," said Mr. Chau.
Recently, Mr. Chau became the center of attention on social media after his controversial statements about women, saying that women should not pursue success, but should maintain gentleness and delicacy.
Regarding Bao Tin Minh Chau, the State Bank Inspectorate has just announced the conclusion of the inspection on the compliance with policies and laws in gold trading activities at this company, thereby pointing out many violations.
Immediately after the inspection ended, the State Bank transferred information on a number of cases showing signs of law violations in gold trading activities at two enterprises to the Ministry of Public Security for investigation and handling.
In addition to Bao Tin Minh Chau, a series of other major gold brands such as PNJ, SJC, DOJI and banks such as Eximbank were also named for many violations in this inspection.
The State Bank has also transferred information on signs of criminal law violations related to the use of invoices, accounting and tax documents at PNJ to the Ministry of Public Security for verification, investigation and handling according to regulations.
