Provincial and district leaders and sponsoring units handed over houses to Mr. Tran Minh Toan and Ms. Son Thi Sa Phol (Vinh Hoa commune, Ba Tri).

Strengthening national unity

Ms. Son Thi Sa Phol (Vinh Hoa commune, Ba Tri) could not contain her emotions on the day she received the "Great Unity" house donated by Ben Tre Province Lottery Company. She said that she and Mr. Tran Thanh Toan met when they were both workers. They came together through sympathy, no land, unstable jobs, and a worker's salary that was only enough to cover daily expenses.

“Even though it was difficult when we first got married, we still made ends meet, but since we had 3 children, life has become more difficult. So my husband and I decided to return to my husband's hometown (Vinh Hoa) to live. Because we had no job or land, we had to find work to support our family. Life was so difficult, I didn't even dare to dream of having money to build a house. The local authorities saw our family's situation and mobilized generous donors to support us, I was so happy. Now my husband and I try to work hard to develop our family's economy, stabilize our lives, and take care of our children's education," said Son Thi Sa Phol.

As for Mr. Vo Van Son (Bao Thanh), the day he received the "Great Unity" house was a special day for his family. He was truly touched and grateful for the attention of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ba Tri district, the local government, as well as the benefactors who helped his family have their dream house. He said that before, living in a dilapidated house with 3 members, it was very difficult when the rainy season came, especially when strong winds came. But now, he and his family have a safe and spacious place to live. The house is not only a shelter but also a motivation for him and his family to strive to escape poverty in life.

Vice Chairman of Vinh Hoa Commune People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Luc said that the financial support to help Ms. Son Thi Sa Phol's family have a house is very meaningful, having a solid and warm place to live. Thereby, it will help her family have stable housing conditions, focus on economic development to improve their lives. With this noble gesture, it also helps the locality to carry out social security work well in the commune. On behalf of the leaders of the commune People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Luc sincerely thanked the help of Ben Tre Provincial Lottery Company Limited, the connection from leaders at all levels who sponsored the locality as well as the family of Mr. Tran Minh Toan and Ms. Son Thi Sa Phol to have a spacious and warm house.

“In the coming time, the locality will continue to do a good job of taking care of social security, contributing to improving people's lives. Through this, the locality also hopes to continue to receive support from benefactors to help the locality do better in social security work. The commune leaders congratulated the family of Mr. Tran Minh Toan and Ms. Son Thi Sa Phol on having their dream house. I hope that you and your family will see this as a motivation and belief to do business, develop the economy and escape poverty sustainably" - Vice Chairman of Vinh Hoa Commune People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Luc said.

Mobilizing multiple resources

Leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and the sponsoring unit presented a board of financial support for house construction to the people of Ba Tri.

According to Vice Chairman of Ba Tri District People's Committee Tran Van Chan, Ba Tri is one of the districts with a relatively high rate of poor households, including many poor households living in temporary houses. In recent years, the District Party Committee, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, local sectors and organizations have paid attention to mobilizing resources to care for families with difficult policies, poor and near-poor households, and households with housing difficulties; creating conditions for the poor and disadvantaged to have a place to live, stabilize their lives and strive to escape poverty sustainably, contributing to the communes and towns eliminating temporary houses, completing housing criteria, and successfully building new rural communes.

Vice Chairman of Ba Tri District People's Committee Tran Van Chan said that, implementing the policy of the Government and the Provincial Party Committee on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, Ba Tri has established a Steering Committee for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the district, at the same time, building working regulations and assigning each member of the district's steering committee to support the communes, directing the communes to coordinate the review. In the district, the province has approved 405 houses, of which in phase 1, Ba Tri has started construction of 74 houses, completed in April 2025, the remaining 331, started construction on April 30, 2025 and finished in June 2025.

Although focusing on many solutions and resources to implement social security work, however, due to difficult economic conditions, heavily affected by saline intrusion, drought, and epidemics, the number of poor households with housing difficulties in the district is still high, and the locality has difficulty in mobilizing resources.

Since the beginning of 2024, the whole district has built over 320 houses of love and solidarity, with a total value of over 18 billion VND. Of which, the capital source from above is 8 billion VND, the source of strong mobilization from donors, people and families is 10 billion VND. Therefore, the fact that the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Ben Tre Lottery Company Limited have supported the construction of 150 Great Solidarity houses for the whole province, 74 houses in Ba Tri district alone for policy households and poor households with housing difficulties is a very practical and deeply humane act, demonstrating the tradition of solidarity, "the rich help the poor", creating conditions for families in difficult circumstances to have an increasingly better life.

Chairman of the Board of Directors - cum Director of Ben Tre Lottery Company Limited, Tran Thanh Tuan said that Ben Tre Lottery Company Limited is a state-owned enterprise, focusing on striving to excellently complete the tasks and targets assigned by the Provincial People's Committee. At the same time, the company's staff is very interested in and responsible for sharing with the community through social security work.

On behalf of the sponsor, Mr. Tran Thanh Tuan congratulated and shared the joy with all the people when they had a house to protect them from the rain and sun. According to Mr. Tran Thanh Tuan, the amount of support for each house is not large (60 million VND/house), but it shows the timely attention of leaders at all levels and the sponsor to help people overcome housing difficulties. Hopefully from now on, people will have a new, warmer house and better conditions to develop their family economy.

“In recent years, our Party and State have paid special attention, issued many policies and strategies, and prioritized resources to achieve the goal of poverty reduction and improve the material and spiritual life of the people. Party committees, authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations at all levels in the province, businesses, organizations and individuals have made many efforts, mobilized and contributed to support the poor, the disadvantaged, and those affected by natural disasters and epidemics... with the spirit of "Not being left behind". Thanks to that, the poverty rate in the province, especially in difficult areas, has decreased significantly, and people's lives have been significantly improved" - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province Nguyen Van Dam.
