The Green Wave 2025 is a music award organized by the Voice of the People of Ho Chi Minh City (VOH), now Ho Chi Minh City Radio and Television (HTV). This year marks the 28th edition of the award.

The 28th Green Wave Music Awards announced its theme "Descendants of the Dragon and the Immortal," reflecting pride in the Vietnamese national identity. Beyond honoring musical values, the Green Wave also aims to convey a meaningful message about a new generation of talented Vietnamese artists.

The Green Wave kicked off with the announcement of the chart rankings' achievements throughout the past year. 2025 saw a total of 106 songs qualify for voting, appearing on the charts from December 13, 2024 to December 12, 2025.

The Top 35 shows a clear differentiation in terms of song release times. Alongside hits that have maintained their popularity for a long time, there are also many songs that have risen to prominence quickly.

The data gaps between the songs in this year's top 10 also show a clearer disparity compared to previous years. This reflects the vibrant music market, with its constant release of new products, high level of competition, and rapid turnover.

"National hits" that spent many weeks on the charts continue to affirm their strong vitality and widespread reach. Notably, the 2025 Green Wave Awards set a major record when the song "Bac Bling" (by Hoa Minzy, Tuan Cry, and People's Artist Xuan Hinh) achieved 41 weeks in the top 10, including 13 weeks at number 1.

Other popular songs that spent many weeks at number 1 include: "Ech ngoai day gieng " (from "Em xinh say hi") by Phuong My Chi with 7 weeks; "Phe mau" (soundtrack from the movie "Dan ca goi ") by MAYDAYs and Minh Toc with 6 weeks; and "chang phai tinh dau sao dau den the" by Min and Dangrangto, Antransax with 5 weeks.

The songs with the most weeks on the charts include: Bac Bling with 41 weeks, The Miracle (24 weeks), Soobin's Frog at the Bottom of the Well and Dancing in the Dark (both with 17 weeks) and Tung Duong's Rebirth with 15 weeks.

Phuong My Chi also set a record as the singer with the most songs featured on the 2025 Green Wave chart, with a total of 13 songs.

These include: "Bóng phù hoa," "Buôn trăng," a mashup of "Lý Bắc Bộ - Đẩy xe bò ," and "Chopticks" (from the Sing! Asia program); songs from "Em xinh say hi" such as AAA, "Ếch ngoài đáy giếng," "Hề," "Cầm kỳ thi họa," and "I'll be there"; and other songs such as "Wrapped miền Tây" (Lan Song Xanh Awards 2024), " Made in Vietnam," "Nhà còn thương em mà" (soundtrack from the movie "Nhà gia tiên "), and "Vợ chồng mình quê."

The themes are homeland and country, and "You're beautiful, say hi."

The 2025 Green Wave chart also features a wave of songs with patriotic themes such as: Made In Vietnam, Pain Amidst Peace , My House Has a Flag Hanging, What Could Be More Beautiful… Notably, Continuing the Story of Peace is the song with the most versions appearing on the chart, with 3 versions by Nguyen Duyen Quynh, Dong Hung - Vo Ha Tram and Tung Duong.

In the music reality TV category, "Em xinh say hi" (You're Beautiful, Say Hi ) has the highest number of songs on the charts with 17 tracks.

According to the plan, the 2025 Green Wave Awards will present 16 award categories in the traditional style. A notable highlight is the return of the Favorite Soundtrack Song category after many years of absence.

The categories will be: Top 10 Favorite Songs; Song of the Year; Phenomenal Song; Arrangement/Production; Producer of the Year; Favorite Soundtrack Song; Album of the Year; Music Video of the Year; Favorite Song on Radio; Outstanding New Face; Breakthrough Artist; Favorite Male/Female Singer/Rapper; Male/Female Singer/Rapper of the Year; Outstanding Collaboration; Special Award; Green Wave Achievement Award; and the only category voted on by the audience: Favorite Male/Female Singer/Rapper.

The 28th Green Wave Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in January 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City.
