Another Christmas season has arrived, and a joyful and festive atmosphere is spreading throughout the Catholic community. These days, the Catholic community is busy decorating the streets, churches, nativity scenes, and Christmas trees, ready to welcome a peaceful and happy Christmas.

The Catholic community in Phu An commune, with over 2,500 parishioners living concentrated in Phu Quoi and Phu Loi hamlets, has consistently adhered to the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations; they have responded to and actively participated in patriotic emulation movements launched by the Fatherland Front and political and social organizations at all levels.

In addition, parishioners actively participate in charitable and humanitarian activities, socialize education , support funds for the poor, gratitude funds, solidarity houses, visit and give gifts to the poor and families in difficult circumstances, etc.

As one of the very active members of the parish's house-building team, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, residing in Phu Quoi hamlet, shared: "Good Catholics are also good citizens. This thought has motivated me and everyone in the parish to participate in repairing and building houses for people, regardless of whether they are religious or not. If any household needs help, we are ready to lend a hand and spread meaningful actions."

Over the past few days, Mr. Nguyen Van Mao, residing in Phu Quoi hamlet, along with other parishioners, have been tidying up the church grounds, decorating with lights and flowers, and building a Christmas tree and nativity scene to welcome a peaceful and happy Christmas season, with the hope that life will continue to improve.

Mr. Mao shared: "Along with fulfilling their duties as believers, each parishioner also fulfills their responsibilities and obligations as citizens, maintaining environmental hygiene, preventing and combating social evils, and promoting unity and mutual support in life."

Father Pham Huynh Duc Linh, the assistant priest of Phu An Church, said that Catholic parishioners in Phu An commune always live virtuous lives, showing kindness and harmony to everyone regardless of religion. Each month, the parish distributes rice to the poor, supports the elderly in purchasing health insurance, and assists with medical examination and treatment costs for the poor and elderly. To invest in the future, the parish also provides scholarships for university students and students from disadvantaged backgrounds… “Helping others is fulfilling God’s commandments; loving God and loving one’s neighbor is also living a virtuous life, contributing to the development of our homeland,” Father Pham Huynh Duc Linh stated.

According to Huynh Duy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu An commune, Catholic people in the commune actively participate in charitable activities, caring for the poor and those in difficult circumstances, responding to social welfare programs, living exemplary lives, loving and helping each other, and building national unity.

At the same time, in response to the nationwide movement for solidarity in building a cultured life and the collective efforts of all citizens in building new rural areas, the Phu An church contributes to creating a new face for rural areas and developing the local economy and society. In 2025, Phu An church will build two new houses for poor households with a budget of 120 million VND, and support the construction of four new houses for four disadvantaged households with a budget of 200 million VND…

Mr. Huynh Duy Phuong further stated that Phu An commune has been implementing a comprehensive set of solutions to support the socio-economic development of people of all religions through the integration of ethnic policies, social welfare, vocational training support, and livelihood models, aiming to reduce poverty, improve living standards, and strengthen national unity. As a result, the lives of religious people have gradually improved, the poverty rate has significantly decreased, legal awareness has increased, and the faith of Catholic people in the Party and the State has been strengthened, creating social consensus and solidarity. Annually, the local authorities organize visits and gift-giving on important holidays to inform people about the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws on religion and belief, and the socio-economic, national defense, and security situation.

We are confident that, with the care and attention of the Party committees and local authorities, the Catholic community of Phu An commune will continue to uphold the spirit of reverence for God and love for the country, and the motto of living a good and virtuous life, actively and effectively participating in patriotic emulation movements in the locality, uniting to build a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland.
