Bac Giang has two typical examples awarded the 2024 Reading Culture Development Award

The award is organized annually by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to honor and encourage organizations and individuals who have made positive contributions to developing reading culture in ministries, sectors, localities, regions and in the community.

According to the Award regulations issued by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2023, collectives and individuals proposing to be awarded the Award must have at least one initiative or proposal for a good model or method that has been widely applied and has a spreading effect, contributing to the development of reading culture in the industry, locality, agency, and unit.

The Organizing Committee received 118 applications for the 2024 Award, including 69 groups and 49 individuals. Based on the criteria, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to award the Award to 20 groups and 15 individuals with outstanding achievements and many good and creative ways in developing a reading culture. Bac Giang province has Yen Dung High School No. 3; Mr. Vu Tri Tinh, Deputy Director of the Provincial Library, was honored to receive the Award.

Yen Dung High School No. 3 has built a library with more than 6,200 books on various topics, organized many meaningful and practical activities to arouse students' passion for reading. In particular, it has launched and encouraged students to actively participate in the Reading Culture Ambassador contest. In the past three years, the school has had students who are provincial-level Reading Culture Ambassadors; won many high prizes at the provincial and national Reading Culture Ambassador contests. In 2024 alone, the school won 2 collective prizes as the unit with the most participants and the most prize-winning contestants; 4 individual prizes including 1 "Outstanding Reading Culture Ambassador" prize, 1 "Outstanding Reading Culture Ambassador" prize, 1 Encouragement prize, 1 thematic prize; and won 2 prizes at the national Reading Culture Ambassador contest.

In his role as Deputy Director of the Provincial Library, Mr. Vu Tri Tinh, born in 1979, has for many years actively contributed to the work of cataloguing information resources, propaganda, and media events in the library; serving readers at core book warehouses; managing, inventorying; developing a project to purify information resources (books, newspapers and other documents) of the Provincial Library.

Advise the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Director of the Provincial Library to develop programs, plans, projects, and development strategies in the library sector of the province and units. In charge of information technology application, digital transformation of the Provincial Library, electronic library, digital library.

At the same time, he promoted, communicated and organized the "Reading Culture Ambassador" contest; the "Children's book promotion and introduction" contest at the provincial level; displayed books and newspapers on major holidays and events of the province and the country; activities to celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day... He had many initiatives to improve the effectiveness of serving readers of the Provincial Library and facilities, especially serving children. He was awarded a Certificate of Merit and a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
