Bac Giang: Encouraging and developing reading culture in the community

The fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025 was launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism nationwide.

The Book and Reading Culture Day is held in the province to continue affirming the importance of books in improving knowledge, skills, developing thinking, educating and training human personality; encouraging and developing the reading movement in the community; forming the habit of reading in families, schools, agencies and organizations, contributing to building a spiritual and cultural life, promoting the ethical values ​​and traditions of learning of the nation. This is an opportunity to introduce and exchange knowledge about reading trends, share information on how to use technology and new electronic reading platforms to encourage reading.

Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in Bac Giang province in 2025 is associated with promoting the propaganda of major political events of the country and the province such as: Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification on April 30 (1975 - 2025); celebrating the 71st anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory on May 7 (1954 - 2025); celebrating the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday on May 19 (1890 - 2025); propagating and promoting the province's socio-economic development achievements.

This is an opportunity for all levels, sectors, localities and units to launch a reading competition movement, exchange good books; mobilize and encourage the establishment of family, clan, village and commune libraries following the open library model to develop a reading culture in the community. Organize dramatization competitions; storytelling and making books; arranging art books; drawing pictures based on children's books; seminars, talks, talks on topics, reading books online... to propagate, introduce and promote books; discuss the meaning and importance of books, honor the value of books to all classes of people.

Organize exhibitions, book fairs with spaces to introduce books of publishers, distributors; relevant agencies and units; exchange activities, seminars; book signing; book donation. Continue to implement the program of donating books, reading equipment, learning tools to poor children, supporting libraries in remote areas and social protection objects. Other activities related to books, in accordance with the functions, tasks and practical situations of agencies, units and localities.

Linking the implementation of Book and Reading Culture Day with the national movement to compete in building a learning society, promoting lifelong learning. The Youth Union continues to implement the theme "A beautiful story - A good book - A shining example every week", maintaining and establishing new book clubs, books and actions, building digital libraries in schools, digitizing school names; implementing playgrounds and reading competitions for teenagers.
