Applying the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training

Mr. Do Huu Quynh - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training said that 2025 is the first year of the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 GeneralEducation Program. Therefore, the Department has applied the high school graduation exam regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training to organize a trial exam, in order to help schools evaluate the results of teaching the 12th grade program; compare and contrast the exam results with the quality goals that schools need to achieve, thereby analyzing and adjusting plans, content, teaching methods, and review. This is also an opportunity for students to self-assess their abilities to adjust their study methods and plans, and practice exam-taking skills to achieve results.

According to the instructions of the Department of Education and Training, each unit under the department (referred to as schools) is a unit that organizes the trial exam. The department's professional department will base on the data of students who have registered for the 2025 high school graduation exam on the exam management software to arrange exam rooms, number registrations, complete data and send them to schools for implementation. The Department of Education and Training will organize the exam questions based on the 2025 reference high school graduation exam structure of the Ministry of Education and Training. Schools will organize the printing of copies of the questions to each exam room and organize trial exams for all students.

The trial exam consists of 3 sessions: 1 session of Literature, 1 session of Math, 1 session of optional test including 2 subjects from the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Informatics, Industrial Technology, Agricultural Technology, Foreign Language (English). The exam format and time are according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. In which, Literature is in the form of essay; Math and the optional test are in the form of multiple choice. The time for Literature is 120 minutes; Math is 90 minutes; subjects in the optional test are 50 minutes/subject. The knowledge content is in the general education program, mainly grade 12 knowledge up to the time of the trial exam. In which, Math will have 8 exam codes created from the original set of questions; subjects of the optional test have a total of 16 codes created from 2 original sets of questions.

Test but operate for real

According to the plan, on the morning of May 19, schools will hold a meeting with staff and teachers working on the mock exam, and on the afternoon of May 19, they will disseminate the regulations and exam schedule to candidates. After the mock exam, from May 22 to 27, schools will organize the exam marking, scoring, and processing of exam results. “The spirit is mock exams but the operation is real, the assessment is real, the test is real and the mock exam results are used to classify students, on that basis, knowledge will be supplemented. The Department will inspect and grasp the exam organization work at schools; based on the statistics of the score distribution of exam subjects, analyze, evaluate, and compare exam results between subjects and between units in the province to draw out the causes of the achieved results and limitations of each subject. From there, direct units to adjust the content and teaching methods, helping students improve their skills in taking the high school graduation exam,” said Mr. Do Huu Quynh.

In that spirit, the Department of Education and Training has requested schools to announce the exam schedule, fully propagate the purpose and significance of organizing the 2025 high school graduation mock exam to staff, teachers, students and parents. At the same time, prepare the number of exam rooms to ensure the organization of the mock exam (each room has no more than 24 students); issue a decision to establish a test printing committee, an exam invigilation committee, and an exam grading committee headed by a leader; clearly define the functions and tasks of each committee to ensure that the mock exam is organized in accordance with the purpose and requirements. After receiving the original exam papers from the Department of Education and Training, schools organize the printing of the papers, packaging, sealing and preservation according to regulations. The Department of Education and Training also reminds schools to ensure that there are enough exam papers and multiple-choice answer sheets according to the regulations of the 2025 high school graduation exam...
