On May 8, the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group announced that the Dai Hung field development project phase 3 officially put into operation the first oil flow, with a flow of 6,000 barrels/day, 20 days ahead of the adjusted plan.
Previously, in October 2003, the Government assigned the right to directly operate oil and gas at Dai Hung field (in Block 05-1(a), located in the Nam Con Son sedimentary basin off the southern continental shelf of Vietnam, about 265 km southeast of Vung Tau city, with sea level depths varying from 110 meters to 120 meters) to Petrovietnam , after the international contractor consortium assessed that the field was not economically efficient.

In carrying out its mission, the Group has operated the mine effectively. By the end of April 2025, Dai Hung mine had exploited nearly 75 million barrels of oil, contributing greatly to the country's revenue, creating jobs for thousands of workers and contributing to protecting the security and sovereignty of the Fatherland.
On June 23, 2022, the Prime Minister approved the FDP of Dai Hung mine phase 3. The project is entirely undertaken by Petrovietnam, from planning, design to construction, supervision...
The EPCI general contractor is the Vietsovpetro Joint Venture and important partners: Vietnam Petroleum Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services Corporation (PV Drilling) have together overcome unprecedented challenges to bring the Dai Hung project phase 3 to the finish line.

The project plays a key role in maintaining production output at Dai Hung mine, improving recovery rate, and increasing economic efficiency. At the same time, the project also opens up opportunities for continued exploration and expansion at block 05.1(a) and neighboring blocks - a long-term strategy in ensuring energy security and national sovereignty over seas and islands.
The completion of Dai Hung phase 3 is also a testament to the maturity of Petrovietnam's staff, engineers and workers.
