Talk: Farmers need support to produce green agriculture

On May 30, Dong Nai province will organize a Dialogue Conference between the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and farmers to listen to the difficulties, obstacles, proposals and comments of farmers in the province. Thereby, the province will promptly remove difficulties and obstacles for farmers. At the same time, there will be solutions for Dong Nai agriculture to develop sustainably, and farmers' lives will be better and better.

Although it is an industrial province, more than half of Dong Nai's population still lives on agriculture . Over the past years, the province has prioritized investment in developing rural areas to improve the material and spiritual life of rural people in the province. As a result, Dong Nai has achieved many achievements such as: being in the top of the country in building new rural areas, advanced new rural areas, and model new rural areas; the production value per hectare of agricultural land has increased, and farmers' income has also increased accordingly...

Currently, in many rural areas of Dong Nai, livable countrysides have been formed, becoming tourist destinations. The province has formed specialized areas for clean crops and livestock, and farmers are moving towards green production for sustainable development.

However, besides that, Dong Nai farmers still face some difficulties and problems such as: the output for many agricultural products is still unstable, the price of agricultural materials is constantly increasing, the situation of poor quality fertilizers and pesticides is still common, natural disasters, diseases on crops and livestock, lack of labor. Many large production areas have not yet built a chain to produce according to export standards. Farmers still lack information on science and technology, forecasting the agricultural market in the short and long term. Agricultural processing is still lacking and weak...

From the above difficulties and limitations, farmers in Dong Nai as well as the whole country need more support from the Government and the province in building a green agricultural production chain that meets export standards and increases competitiveness with similar goods from other countries. Farmers want the province to strictly control input materials for agricultural production, promptly detect poor quality fertilizers, pesticides, plant varieties, livestock, and vaccines. At the same time, farmers hope to borrow capital with low interest rates, transfer more modern science and technology to increase productivity, quality, and reduce labor. With agricultural products with large areas and quantities, the province should attract businesses to invest in deep processing into many products, domestic consumption, and export to increase the added value of the products.

Dong Nai currently has more than 391 thousand hectares of perennial industrial crops, annual crops, fruit trees; each year supplying the market with about 1.6 million tons of agricultural products. Among them, there are many types of crops with large areas and output such as bananas, mangoes, durians, grapefruits, rambutans, vegetables, pepper, coffee, rubber... Besides, Dong Nai is also a place with top pig and chicken farming in Vietnam. Therefore, this is an advantage for Dong Nai to build chains from farm to table. Green, clean agricultural products can increase exports and domestic consumption.

Agricultural products have stable output, high prices, farmers' lives will be improved.
