People of Tien Son commune (Viet Yen town) mix pesticides to prevent pests and diseases. |
According to statistics from professional agencies, there are currently 113 hectares of rice slightly infected with neck blast disease; 211 hectares slightly infected with leaf blight disease; 186 hectares slightly infected with stripe spot disease. The disease is concentrated in fields in the districts of Tan Yen, Hiep Hoa, Yen The; Chu town...
It is forecasted that in the coming time, pests will continue to cause damage and tend to increase; if not prevented in time, it will adversely affect rice productivity and quality.
To limit the occurrence and spread of pests and diseases on a large scale, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection recommends that the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Agricultural Technical Service Centers of districts, towns and cities guide farmers to regularly inspect their fields; closely monitor the occurrence and damage caused by pests such as: leaf blight, bacterial stripe spot, and rice blast (especially on infected rice varieties and broad-leafed varieties).
Following the instructions, local farmers have proactively taken care of rice during the heading and flowering stages. For bacterial leaf blight and bacterial stripe disease, people have sprayed preventive measures as soon as the disease first appeared to limit its spread.
For varieties at high risk of infection with neck blast disease such as BC15, Nep, TBR 225, fragrant rice, Japanese rice..., farmers focus on care, balanced fertilization, stop fertilizing with nitrogen and foliar fertilizer to limit disease infection.
When seeing the plants infected with rice blast disease, people immediately used special pesticides to prevent it; they did not apply any fertilizer during the spraying phase to prevent the disease.
Professional agencies continue to closely inspect and monitor the developments of pests and diseases such as: small leaf rollers, planthoppers, stem borers, black-striped dwarf disease, yellow leaf disease... to have timely prevention and control measures.
