The conference was attended by delegates from the Vietnam Nutrition Association, the National Institute of Nutrition, hospitals and medical facilities, and nutrition training universities across the country. In two working sessions, 18 professional reports (13 direct reports, 5 poster reports) were presented by more than 20 nutritionists, researchers, doctors, and nutrition lecturers.

Specifically, stunting malnutrition in children under 5 years old is 19.6% (over 38% in mountainous areas); chronic energy deficiency in women and the elderly is 13-18%; while overweight and obesity are increasing rapidly (children 5-19 years old about 19.6%, adults 19-22%). Micronutrient deficiencies such as zinc, iron, vitamin D, iodine are still common. Chronic non-communicable diseases such as high blood pressure (>30%), diabetes (7.3%) tend to increase significantly...
The causes include globalization, urbanization, population aging, unbalanced diet, sedentary lifestyle, smoking and environmental pollution… and are stratified into three levels: basic (resources, politics , economics), indirect (care, health services, environment) and direct (diet, disease).
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Truong Tuyet Mai, the National Nutrition Strategy to 2030 aims to improve nutritional status, enhance health and prevent chronic non-communicable diseases in the community.
Priority research and application directions include: nutritional epidemiology, monitoring and trend analysis; basic research and intervention research; application of 4.0 technology and AI in consulting, urgent monitoring and health assessment; development of supportive foods for treatment, combined with communication and community nutrition education ...
The presentation “Nutritional security with immune enhancement, infection prevention for people with metabolic syndrome” by People's Teacher, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Ngoc Khai - Chairman of the Vietnam Nutrition Association, pointed out the relationship between nutritional security and health; the challenge of the risk of antibiotic abuse leading to increased antibiotic resistance rates of pathogens in humans as well as livestock belonging to the risk chain in “one health”...
From there, he proposed a number of practical solutions in clinical nutrition and medical treatment to support the enhancement of immunity for people with metabolic syndrome. At the same time, he made recommendations for research and development orientation in the face of current challenges.
According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Dao - President of Dong A University, the scientific conference "Nutrition for proactive health care" on November 14 is an academic and scientific research forum, the 3rd national scientific conference on nutrition at Dong A University.
