Muong Lat Protective Forest Management Board strengthens forest protection during hot season

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - The Muong Lat Forest Protection Management Board (BQLRPH) is assigned to manage and use 3,476 hectares of forest and forestry land. Of which, more than 1,500 hectares of forest are at very high risk of fire during the hot season.

Implementing the management of critical protection forests in mountainous areas with complex terrain and difficult traffic, people living near the forest are mainly ethnic minorities, whose lives still depend heavily on the forest. Along with that, some subjects encroached on protection forest land for farming, causing many difficulties for forest protection work (BVR). Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Muong Lat Forest Protection Management Board has proactively developed and implemented a plan to maintain stable forest security and strictly manage forest products; a forest fire prevention and fighting plan (PCCCR) in 2025; a plan to mobilize forces and means to fight forest fires according to the "4 on-site" motto; a PCCCR plan during the peak hot months and a plan to reduce combustible materials under the pine forest canopy by controlled pre-burning.

Along with that, coordinate with Muong Lat Forest Protection Department to organize two forest fire watch posts in Tam Chung commune and Muong Lat town. The assigned members are responsible for observing forest fires in the assigned area and neighboring areas to detect early forest fire risks. The assigned members carry blowers to promptly extinguish fires when they first break out in the area they are on duty, and promptly inform other posts and related units.

In addition to fixed posts, Muong Lat Forest Protection Management Board coordinates with the Forest Ranger Department to regularly organize mobile forest fire patrols and observations; inspect, urge and motivate members participating in forest fire watch to increase their responsibility in performing assigned tasks. Request localities and forest owners to promptly overcome shortcomings and limitations in forest protection and fire prevention and control, in order to enhance the role and responsibility of local authorities and forest owners in performing forest protection and fire prevention and control tasks, as well as the awareness of people in complying with the law on forest protection and fire prevention and control. Proactively inspect key forests, clearly identify the causes and times of fire, promptly notify weather conditions and forest fire levels to specialized departments, forest protection stations and households participating in the contract in the area to arrange forces, tools and means to proactively protect the forest.

Director of Muong Lat Forest Protection Management Board Mai Van Dam said: The Board has clearly identified key areas with potential risks of forest fires and forest insecurity, to assign permanent staff to monitor and closely follow the area. Actively coordinate with authorities at all levels and relevant units in the area to implement many solutions from propaganda to strengthening inspection, supervision, and strict handling of violators of the Forestry Law. Propagandize policies, laws on forest protection and forest fire prevention and control to the people. Deploy forest fire prevention and control work to cadres and civil servants; purchase additional tools for forest fire prevention and control work. During the peak hot days, the Board has assigned 24/24 hours of duty with the motto of timely detection and handling, reviewing and preparing forces, vehicles, and logistics to serve forest fire prevention and control work according to the motto "4 on-site". Organize the signing of coordination regulations in forest protection and forest fire prevention and control management between the Board and units. Identifying some key forests with high risk of fire, cadres, civil servants, and specialized forces of forest protection stations have increased forest patrols and strictly controlled fire sources entering the forest. Villages and hamlets with forests have coordinated with forest owners to sign a commitment not to violate forest prohibitions.

In the first 5 months of 2025, the forest area managed by Muong Lat Forest Protection Management Board was safely protected, with no cases of deforestation or forest fires. Forest security in the region was maintained, with forest coverage reaching 88% by December 2024. The area of ​​depleted natural forests is recovering and developing stably. The forest resources of the Ma River headwaters are managed and protected sustainably, not only promoting good protective functions, protecting biodiversity, creating environmental landscapes, but also creating water sources for the Ma River headwaters.
