Building agricultural product supply chain

People of Tuong Son commune (Nong Cong) cooperate in production and consumption of raw potato products with Viettrans Logistics Joint Stock Company ( Hanoi ).

In the 2024-2025 winter crop, Viettrans Logistics Joint Stock Company has cooperated with cooperatives and people in Nga Son, Hoang Hoa, Quang Xuong, and Nong Cong districts to grow nearly 50 hectares of FL 2215 potatoes as raw materials for processing. Mr. Truong Van Dung in Thai Tuong village, Tuong Son commune (Nong Cong) said: In the 2024-2025 winter crop, my family rented land and cooperated with Viettrans Logistics Joint Stock Company to grow 20 hectares of potatoes. During the production process, the company provided guidance on planting techniques, care, pest control, and guaranteed the entire product. After 100 days of planting, the potato area has now been harvested, with an average yield of 23 tons/ha. With the company's purchase price at the field of 7,500 VND/kg, after deducting costs, each hectare of potatoes brings a profit of about 60 million VND.

Every year, the province attracts nearly 10 enterprises to directly cooperate with cooperatives and people to build potato production models according to the value chain with an area of ​​about 1,000 hectares. The companies supply fertilizers, agricultural materials and potato seeds to households participating in production. During the production process, the companies support people with planting and care techniques, then purchase products for farmers. Nguyen Kim Hanh, Director of Agriculture of PepsiCo Vietnam Foods Company Limited, said: "Through the association, the company has a source of quality-assured raw materials for processing. In the coming time, we will continue to expand the area of ​​raw potatoes in Thanh Hoa province, cooperate with cooperatives and households to produce and supply better to partners."

Currently, the province has built 114 agricultural product supply chains, providing nearly 700,000 tons of staple food for the people in the province. Of which, there are 30 rice chains, 32 vegetable and fruit chains, 28 livestock and poultry meat chains, and 24 seafood chains. In addition, the province has also attracted nearly 80 enterprises in the province to participate in the agricultural product supply chain to provinces and cities across the country. Every year, enterprises supply a large amount of agricultural products of the province to the market, contributing to the stable consumption of agricultural products for people according to the season. Some agricultural production and consumption chains are being maintained stably, such as: Phu Loc Agricultural Cooperative (Hau Loc) in association with Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company (Ninh Binh province) annually supplies 1,090 tons of vegetables and fruits of all kinds, worth 7.5 billion VND; Trung Chinh Agricultural Service Cooperative (Nong Cong) cooperates with Hong Quang Agricultural Materials Company Limited (Ninh Binh province) to consume 150 tons of sticky rice, 300 tons of rice/year; Ho Guom Song Am Joint Stock Company (Ngoc Lac) cooperates with TADASHI Human Resources Joint Stock Company to consume 12.6 tons of lychee, 45 tons of dragon fruit, 200 tons of pineapple/year with a total value of 3.4 billion VND. Or the contract between Nga Son District People's Committee and VIETPO Joint Stock Company (Hanoi City) to consume about 1,800 tons of potatoes/year...

In order to develop agricultural product supply chains, the agricultural sector and localities are actively accumulating and concentrating land to develop large-scale, concentrated commodity cultivation areas. At the same time, encourage and support enterprises, cooperatives and farming households to produce according to VietGAP standards, develop geographical indications, register for collective trademark protection, build standard planting and farming areas to ensure the origin and quality of input materials for processing. Localities in the province are actively attracting enterprises to lead and maintain the supply chain of agricultural products, develop and expand markets, gradually build brands, and increase product value in the domestic and export markets. Along with that, apply and transfer science and technology into production and processing to create high-quality agricultural products, ensuring food safety.
