At this special space, Hanoi Moi Newspaper solemnly held a rally to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
In his commemorative speech, Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper Nguyen Minh Duc reviewed the history of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School for journalists.
Here, from April 4, 1949 to July 6, 1949, following the direction of President Ho Chi Minh, the Viet Minh Central Committee and the Resistance Press Corps established the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School. This event marked a remarkable development of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism, demonstrating the strategic vision of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh on the role of journalism in the struggle for national independence. The school named after patriot Huynh Thuc Khang is not only a place to impart knowledge and journalism skills but also an environment to train political qualities and revolutionary ethics for future generations of journalists.
President Ho Chi Minh paid special attention and sent two letters of encouragement and guidance on revolutionary journalism to the students. He advised: “This class is the first journalism class. I hope you will compete to study and practice to be worthy pioneers on the journalism front. The press must also carry out the slogan: All for victory!”
42 students after graduating from the first course in the history of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism and the only one in the resistance war against French colonialism were assigned to work at press and propaganda agencies. This team became key writers, making many contributions to the cause of resistance war and national construction and building the country's journalism.
The Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School was ranked as a national monument by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2019.
“Looking back at the glorious and proud 100-year history, we can affirm that the Vietnamese revolutionary press has made many important contributions to the cause of national liberation, accompanying the country to overcome all difficulties and challenges and achieving great achievements on the path of innovation and development. The Vietnamese revolutionary press has always maintained its role as a vanguard force on the ideological front, a bridge between the Party, the State and the people, contributing greatly to the cause of independence, building and defending the Fatherland. Especially, in the new era - the era of deep integration, comprehensive digital transformation and knowledge-based economic development, the press must further affirm its role in leading public opinion, contributing to shaping thinking, improving people's knowledge, creating social consensus and fostering the strong aspirations of the entire nation", the Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper emphasized.
On behalf of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper journalists, Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Minh Duc expressed deep gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh - Founder of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the founder of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism; remembering and honoring the heroes, martyrs, and generations of journalists who sacrificed their blood and bones, contributed their efforts and intelligence for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, and built a peaceful and developed country.
Hanoimoi journalists continue the proud history
In a solemn and meaningful atmosphere for journalists, journalist Nguyen Minh Duc highlighted the important contributions to the overall achievements of the Capital, the country, and the Vietnamese revolutionary press of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper - the agency of the Hanoi Party Committee, the voice of the Party Committee, the government and the people of the Capital, over the past 68 years since the publication of the first daily issue (October 24, 1957).
“In particular, Hanoi Moi Newspaper has established a methodical and in-depth approach, creating a widespread social effect in propagating the revolution of restructuring and streamlining the apparatus, the major viewpoints of the Party and General Secretary To Lam on the “new era – the era of national development. Hanoi Moi Newspaper is proving the pioneering role of local Party newspapers in propagating the new era – not only as a communicator of policies, but also as a person who arouses confidence, fosters aspirations, and orients development thinking – contributing to bringing the capital and the whole country into a new period of development”, Comrade Nguyen Minh Duc affirmed.
Emphasizing the responsibility of the press in the current digital era, the Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper said that Hanoi Moi Newspaper must be determined to innovate, must take people as the center, as the subject, specifically here each cadre, reporter, editor, and worker to carry out innovation, with the highest will to overcome all difficulties and challenges to build and develop.
To do that, according to comrade Nguyen Minh Duc, each cadre, reporter, editor, and employee of Hanoi Moi Newspaper needs to clearly understand the glorious mission of Vietnamese revolutionary journalists as Uncle Ho taught: "Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers"; especially need to deeply understand the proud historical tradition and value of the Hanoi Moi brand, the only Party newspaper in the country named by Uncle Ho twice, the first Party newspaper agency in the country to be awarded the title of Labor Hero, thereby arousing pride and a desire to contribute to live and work in a way that is worthy of the name Hanoi Moi.
Our goal is to strive to become a Party newspaper that is increasingly "professional, humane, modern", strong in political propaganda, sharp in political genres, vividly and attractively reflecting both the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and the real-life dynamics of the people; contributing practical solutions to the cause of building and developing the Capital and the country".
