Social Insurance stops issuing paper health insurance cards from June 1

From June 1, Hai Duong Provincial Social Insurance will not issue paper health insurance cards. Participants are required to use health insurance cards on digital platforms VssID and VNeID.

From June 1, the social insurance industry will not issue paper health insurance cards to participants.

From June 1, 2025, Hai Duong Provincial Social Insurance will not print new or reissue paper health insurance cards; it will only print and issue paper health insurance cards for cases that have not been issued a chip-embedded citizen identification card, ID card, and cases that cannot install VssID, VneID.

This regulation is part of the digital transformation program of Vietnam Social Security, implementing the directions of the Government and the Prime Minister on cutting administrative procedures, aiming to modernize the process and bring many practical benefits to health insurance participants.

Provincial Social Insurance requires professional departments, district, town and city Social Insurance Continue to standardize personal information of employees, authenticate citizen identification information to serve medical examination and treatment of employees and health insurance participants.

Employers, subject management agencies, authorized service organizations collect and urge employees and health insurance participants to provide information on chip-embedded citizen identification cards and ID cards. Instruct employees and health insurance participants to install the VssID Digital Social Insurance application.

Medical examination and treatment facilities in the province instruct patients to use ID cards, chip-embedded citizen ID cards, and VssID and VneID applications during medical examination and treatment.
